Comrade Pelosi Are Making It Plane Who Run da' New Socialist UPSSA
  Malcolm Hedges (12/02/08)
Assumed President-Elect Obama has been given notice that Comrade Pelosi is who runs the House and he better pay serious attention to her demands/wishes or suffer the consequences.

Police Officers Are Being Turned Into Shock Troops
  Dave Gibson (12/02/08)
In 1998, police departments across the United States began using tasers. They were deployed as a way to deal with violent suspects, without having to resort to the deadly force of a gun. However, tasers are now being used more and more in a pre-emptive manner to subdue non-violent individuals.

Reviving Auntie's Christmas
  J. Grant Swank Jr. (12/02/08)
"Come on, we’re going to get out those decorations and dress this house up for dear life!"

Generous With Other People's Money
  Tom Brewton (12/02/08)

Liberal-progressives presume that they can do no wrong, so long as they take other people's money for the benefit of the secular and socialistic welfare state.

Obama-Economics
  Nathan Tabor (12/02/08)

Is President-Elect Barack Obama the next JFK or a new FDR? Is he poised to create a 21st century New Deal, New Frontier, or Great Society? Will he be remembered with the fondness lavished on Ronald Reagan, or the ill will which dogged Jimmy Carter?

Assessing Florida
  Ari Kaufman (12/02/08)

Once the dust had settled a month ago, the American map had changed from four years back, yet was still the same in many ways. One cannot avoid noticing the midwest looked much like the coasts, but the plains, big sky and south, sans Virginia and North Carolina, were still quite red. Then there stood Florida, always desired, and especially since 2000. Like other southern and western states with rapid population increases, the Sunshine State is perpetually changing "colors," thus difficult for either party to consistently and confidently claim.

The Supposed 'Centrist' Obama Administration
  Malcolm Hedges (12/01/08)

The Obama Cabinet candidates have some folks thinking he will 'rule' from the Center....

Warning Delivered Two Months Before Mumbai Attacks Terror Expert Worries about Similar Scenario in Britain
  Jeremy Reynalds (12/01/08)

An Islamic terror group known as the Indian Mujahideen, which took responsibility for bombings in Delhi in September, warned two months ago that its next target would be Mumbai.

US Killing Its Own Constitution
  Jayme Evans (12/01/08)

The strength of our republic lies in its constitution. Written in blood, the US Constitution has served as our guiding framework for generations. Federal power exists solely by virtue of the Constitution's existence. Our representatives in Washington all swear to uphold and defend it, but lately, politicians in both parties have been waging war against it.

Environmental Whackos, Islamists and Progressives
  Malcolm Hedges (11/30/08)

These three groups have a common purpose of destroying the Republic for similar and different reasons.

The Blood of Patriots and Tyrants
  JB Williams (11/30/08)

On October 31, 2006, I released a column titled When 51-49 becomes 49-51 in which I stated, “Nearly every American senses a horrific problem on the horizon. But due to massive amounts of disinformation, few know the cause or can see what, if anything, to do about it.”

Take a Side with Embryonic Stem Cells
  Kevin Roeten (11/29/08)

With four types of stem cells, use of three are ethical because no “life’ is jeopardized. In Embryonic Stem Cells (ESCs), a fertilized cell must be destroyed to obtain parts that are thought to cure particular illnesses. One who doesn’t understand “life” in the Declaration considers ESCR ethical.

America: The Old Cowboy that Rides Off into the Sunset
  Michael Bresciani (11/29/08)

America is a long way from forty-niners, straw hats and political bunting draped along the rail of an old caboose and cowboys disappearing into the sunset to seek their destiny. It isn’t nostalgia that pulls the heart to better days but a specific cognizance that such times and events have turned a corner and rather than just being a “change” it promises to be more of a demise, perhaps a collision.

Dear Charlotte - You Are Bankrupt
  Guest Author: J.J. Jackson (11/29/08)

Dear Charlotte,

Even though you are far too young yet to understand this letter, and you are rightfully more interested in seeing how much noise you can make by throwing all of our pots and pans on the floor, I wanted to let you know that I am sorry. I am sorry at what has happened to you. For you see, you are bankrupt.

Immigration Watchdog Denounces Manipulation of Crime Data for Political Gain
  Jim Kouri CPP (11/29/08)

Yesterday(Nov 27th), the National Council of La Raza, MALDEF and other organizations held yet another news conference to try to silence the immigration policy debate in this country, reports the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). FAIR claims this outrageous behavior is part of a calculated strategy initiated after the defeat of the Senate's immigration amnesty bill last year.

Palestine - Fantasy and Fiction Feature at United Nations
  OffSite (11/29/08)

The gross ignorance displayed by current United Nations General Assembly President - Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann - highlights the difficulty in having any kind of rational discussion at the United Nations about finally resolving Jewish and Arab claims to the territory once called Palestine.

Rid The Sea Lanes Of Piracy
  Guest Author: J. D. Longstreet (11/28/08)

I reside just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean and the coast of North Carolina and those barrier Islands along our coast which made for wonderful hiding places for the pirates of yesteryear. The Coast of North Carolina is drenched in folklore about pirates. The infamous Blackbeard was captured here and decapitated. The sports teams of at least one noted university here are named "The Pirates." So, we Tar Heels have a colorful history of interaction with pirates as does our sister state to the south. That was then. This is now.

U.S. Media Ignoring Obama Mistakes With India/Pakistan
  Warner Todd Huston (11/28/08)

Naturally, the U.S. media is following the terrorist crimes in Mumbai, India, as well they should. But, the attacks seem to be the Old Media's only interest where it concerns India and Pakistan, of late, for they've completely ignored the several mistakes that Barack Obama has already made with his attempts at foreign policy with the two embattled nations.

Democrat Presidential Hopefuls Admit They'll Try to Con Americans
Liberals Really Were Spying for the Soviets
"The official thermometers at the U.S. National Climate Data Center show a slight global cooling trend over the last seven years, from 1998 to 2005."

The State And Same-Sex Marriage
  Robert Klein Engler (11/28/08)
OAK PARK, IL--Let's agree that the state, as a subsidiary agent, is interested in what is true. By what is true I mean that which is objective, or that which can be agreed upon by impartial observers performing the same tests. There is objective evidence for what is true.

Mindless Pardons By Mindless Presidents
  Malcolm Hedges (11/27/08)
President Bush seems to be destined to be as ignorant and corrupted as President Clinton when it comes to I'm out a' here pardons?

Terrorism in India: Law Enforcement Agencies Lack Directives to Aid Foreign Nations
  Jim Kouri CPP (11/27/08)
Gangs of heavily armed gunmen stormed several Indian hotels, a popular tourist attraction and a crowded train station in at least seven attacks in India's financial capital. The suspects killed at least 78 people and wounded another 200, according to US embassy officials.

Veterans Continue To Voice Concerns On The Obama Presidency
  Thomas D. Segel (11/27/08)
Harlingen, Texas, November 26, 2008: When it comes to forming beliefs among those in the veteran community it is a very hard sell. It matters not if they are retired from a career in uniform or just served under the flag for a single tour of duty, most have a very strong “show me” mentality.

Obama, Fate, and the Politics of the Expedient
  Miguel Guanipa (11/27/08)
Like many other cherished traditions, America’s guardedly dormant skepticism towards its felicitously inefficient political apparatus is rekindled on a quadrennial basis. Yet Americans still resign themselves to casting their greatest aspirations upon the brittle shoulders of politicians. In turn, the latter go on to pledge their commitment anew to the same old promises they will faithfully continue to break. This ancient storyline gained formidable mass appeal when it was cleverly exploited by the Barack Obama campaign strategists.

Obama And The American Socialized Healthcare System
  Guest Author: J. D. Longstreet (11/26/08)
The MsM is telling us that Obama fully intends to push for socialized medicine early in his first year as President. Why not? Our financial institutions have already been socialized (nationalized, whichever you prefer). Our auto Industry looks, for all the world, as if they are ready to become nationalized, as well. Now healthcare, which accounts for one-seventh of the US economy, is about to be the next huge segment of the American economy to be taken over by the government. How can anyone, observing the American slide into socialism, not be concerned and even outraged at what our government is doing to the democratic representative republic given us by our Founding Fathers?

Sociology Won't Save A Church
  J. Grant Swank Jr. (11/26/08)
Just recently driving through Maitland, Hants County, Nova Scotia, my wife and I were shocked - and especially saddened.

Our Place in the House of Obama
  Aaron Goldstein (11/26/08)
Where exactly do Republicans and conservatives fit in a political space where Barack Obama will soon assume the powers and duties of the President of the United States?

Political obfuscation in the stem-cell research issue
  Robert E. Meyer (11/26/08)
One of the most common complaints registered during the recent election season, is that certain policy positions of political candidates are wrongly characterized, or worse, just outright falsely presented by the opposition. Nowhere has this trend been more prominent than in regards to the stem-cell research positions of politically conservative candidates at virtually every level of government.

Democrats Continue to be the Party of Stupidity
  Dennis Campbell (11/26/08)
My boss has been hitting the sauce pretty hard lately.

2008 The Age of Arrogant Ignorance
  JB Williams (11/26/08)
In the months leading up to the 2008 election, as it became painfully clear that America was preparing to elect the most unqualified Commander-in-Chief ever to seek the Oval Office, I jokingly pondered how many current members of congress could pass a basic civics test.

Hillary Pick Reveals Obama's Lack of Experience
  Warner Todd Huston (11/25/08)
Time magazine wants so badly to make Obama into the next Abraham Lincoln -- so noble that he's willing to include political enemies in his cabinet -- that they are willing to throw away any pretense at observing the candidate himself to make it happen. The latest risible effort(1) by Karen Tumulty and Massimo Calabresi invokes the supposed "team of rivals" comparison as Barack Obama begins to formulate his cabinet. The Time writers base their entire point on the fact that Obama is probably offering the job of Secretary of State to Hillary Clinton, his rival for the Democratic nomination.

CNN's Hypocritical Disregard for Employee Rights
  Jim Kouri CPP (11/25/08)
While the reporters and editors at CNN profess to support working men and women, it appears that behind the scenes they've treated their own workers poorly.

Ten Random, Politically Incorrect Thoughts
  OffSite (11/25/08)
1. Four years of high-school Latin would dramatically arrest the decline in American education. In particular, such instruction would do more for minority youths than all the ‘role model’ diversity sermons on Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, Montezuma, and Caesar Chavez put together. Nothing so enriches the vocabulary, so instructs about English grammar and syntax, so creates a discipline of the mind, an elegance of expression, and serves as a gateway to the thinking and values of Western civilization as mastery of a page of Virgil or Livy (except perhaps Sophocles’s Antigone in Greek or Thucydides’ dialogue at Melos).

'The End Of The World, Or Not?'
  Guest Author: J. D. Longstreet (11/25/08)
Some predictions: 1. Obama's "hold out your hand to everyone" foreign policy is going to be a catastrophe. They'll love it in Europe. They're probably laughing their heads off about it in the Middle East already.

Westerners Welcome Harems
  Daniel Pipes (11/25/08)
A Scottish judge recently bent the law to benefit a polygamous household. The case involved a Muslim male who drove 64 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone – usually grounds for an automatic loss of one's driving license. The defendant's lawyer explained his client's need to speed: "He has one wife in Motherwell and another in Glasgow and sleeps with one one night and stays with the other the next on an alternate basis. Without his driving licence he would be unable to do this on a regular basis." Sympathetic to the polygamist's plight, the judge permitted him to retain his license.

Race in the Third Millennium
  Selwyn Duke (11/25/08)
Although the show was propaganda produced by leftist Norman Lear, no one could accuse “All in the Family” of not being funny. Its protagonist, blue-collar bigot Archie Bunker, is one of those legendary television characters, and one of his uproarious lines is apropos here. It was uttered during a scene in which his daughter, Gloria, passionately asked him, "Daddy, did you know that 65 percent of the people murdered in the last ten years were killed by handguns?" The curmudgeonly patriarch’s reply was classic: "Would it make you feel any better, little girl, if they was pushed outta' windas’?"

Our Lost Checks And Balances
  Bruce Walker (11/24/08)
Democrats may well have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. If this happens, there will be no practical checks upon President Obama implementing his political agenda. Our governmental system was created to limit political power by creating checks and balances. Congress was intended to be able to check the president, the states were intended to be able to check the federal government, and the courts were intended to be an impartial referee, calling penalties when one part of the government or another exceeded its authority.

Why I'm Thankful in 2008
  Doug Patton (11/24/08)
Note: I originally wrote and published this column at Thanksgiving 2003 and updated it in 2005. As I reread it in preparation for this week’s column, I realized how timely it still is. I offer it this year (again slightly updated) as an encouragement to any who read it. - Before we all become caught up in the hectic commercialism of “The Season,” beginning with that most uniquely American holiday, Thanksgiving, I thought it would be useful to consider the things for which I am thankful.

'Somali Piracy or Terrorism?'
  Jim Kouri CPP (11/24/08)
In spite of the news media distancing the recent attack on a ship off the coast of Somalia from global terrorism, intelligence experts believe this is just the latest operation initiated against the United States and the West by Al-Qaeda.

Bridge Loans To Nowhere
  Jayme Evans (11/24/08)
Nothing is more ridiculous than the notion being adopted by our government that anyone or anything is somehow too big to fail. There are 435 members in the House of Representatives and a Senate of 50 and yet they have failed us quite miserably and repeatedly.

American Auto Makers Actually Sometimes Make Stuff That Americans Need and Want
  Malcolm Hedges (11/23/08)
Minor issues are that they are overpriced and quality is generally questionable.

Darwin Got it Wrong and It's Not What You're Thinking
  Alan Caruba (11/23/08)
Charles Darwin got it wrong. This is not to disparage the man. Science is an ever evolving process and scientific theories are subject to being replaced by newer knowledge. Most certainly, Darwin (1809-1882) got everyone thinking about evolution, but the problem is that evolution is not a slow process. It happens very fast.

It Seems I Was Kinda Close To Being Correct About Our Future
  Malcolm Hedges (11/22/08)
A very much respected prognosticator has declared he and his team believe that he "...sees a tax rebellion in America by 2012, food riots, squatter rebellions, job marches"(1). It's a bit milder than my rants, but essentially in the same vain.

We Must Fight Faith with Faith
  Bruce Walker (11/22/08)
The enemies we face in America cannot be defeated by good arguments alone (there are no good arguments to support what they believe.) This fact is easier to understand when we are fighting radical Islam overseas. Hatred of Jews and Christians is not logical but rather theological. Fanatics who turn to religious texts which enjoin the faithful to deceive, to despoil, and to dominate the unbeliever view arguments as simply another weapon to weaken the enemy.
