CORZINE BRINGS BACK NEW JERSEY’S ‘TAX GURU’
By Gordon Bishop (11/14/05)
Governor-elect Jon Corzine refused to take a pledge to “not raise taxes” when he was spending some $60 million to buy the Chief Executive Office in Trenton.
Corzine couldn’t take such a pledge. He’s a liberal who wants to remain in the inner circle of America’s tax-and-spend Leftist family: Senators Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and the rest of the destructive Far Left Democrat party.
It came as no surprise to this columnist that Corzine appointed Richard Leone as the head of his “Transition Team.”
Yes, Wall Street operative Dick Leone – the same Dick Leone who gave New Jersey the ‘income tax” in 1975 when former liberal Governor Brendan Byrne was in charge of the state’s ballooning budget.
You see, the only way liberals can balance the budget is by raising taxes on the working class. They’ve been doing it for 75 years, impacting not only New Jersey, but the federal government and the entire free enterprise economic system.
As a result, the federal government, New Jersey, California and other liberal states are on the brink of bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, taxpayers are forced to work two jobs and sacrifice their lifestyles in order to pay taxes on the federal, state, county and municipal levels.
Did you ever hear a liberal declare that “government must downsize” to lower taxes and runaway inflation? Increasing taxes year after year, decade after decade devalues money.
The 1960 dollar is now worth a pitiful 10 cents. Liberal inflation has made more millionaires today than at any other time in our history as a Constitutional Republic that won a tax revolution in 1776, only to lose out to the liberal socialists who believe in big taxes, big government and to hell with the working class. Workers have become economic slaves in the liberalization of America.
Bye-bye, American Dream. Welcome to an America that faces a multi-trillion-dollar debt that can only be paid off by printing trillions of dollars of worthless dollars.
Liberalism and socialism are destroying what’s left of the working class.
Guaranteed, Corzine and his Big Tax Guru will be raising income taxes next year to bail out the politically wasteful, bloated, bureaucratic government in Trenton.
As I said in my column last week, New Jersey voters deserve what they get.
After 48 years as a columnist, author and historian, I have seen the dumbing down of education, our culture and traditional values. What’s left is a hollow shell of the American Dream our founders envisioned after they won the tax revolution of 1776.
Most Americans I know – family, friends and neighbors – are up to their eyeballs in debt.
As a result of the liberal dumbing-down process, only one out of 10 voters really understands the political, constitutional process that once made America the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
Frankly, nine out of 10 voters would fail to pass the test of why they should vote. They just don’t know. Whatever they see, hear or read in the liberal mainstream media is what they know, based on 15- and 30-second “sound bites” on their TV sets and radios.
Most newspapers have lost the clout they once had because more and more people don’t read, much less a daily newspaper. This is also the product of anti-education, pro-union liberalism.
To prove this point, just look at this election. New Jersey’s three largest daily newspapers – The Star-Ledger, The Asbury Park Press, the Bergen County Record – all endorsed Republican candidate for governor Doug Forrester.
Had this kind of whopping endorsement happened 10 or 20 years ago, Forrester would have walked away with the election. Instead, he lost by capturing less than a million votes.
The only reason Corzine won is that the registered Democrats in New Jersey outnumber the registered Republicans by a huge margin There are 1.7 million registered Democrats and 900,000 registered Republicans in New Jersey.
New Jersey is a deep blue liberal Democrat state, one of the reasons New Jersey is in big financial trouble. And raising taxes will only make matters worse as more and more Jerseyans are fleeing their homes and businesses and moving to Delaware, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and other “affordable states” where taxes have not yet destroyed the working class.
And who replaces the working class? The welfare state!
Democrats like to see themselves as the “protectors of the working class.”
But the liberals in the Democrat party are destroying the working class, state-by-state, community-by-community.
The real protectors of the working class are the true conservative Republicans – not the “moderate” or liberal Republicans who might as well join the liberal Democrat party.
Amazingly, while the liberals are ruining urban and much of suburban America, the Republicans have taken control of the United States Congress, the White House, and shortly, the United States Supreme Court.
How can this happen?
Because more and more counties in each state are voting Republican, leaving only Urban America and its fringes stuck with liberal Democrat mob-rule.
Therein lies the hope for the USA!
