RE: New York Times Accused of Toying with Treason

Something has gone very wrong in the American "justice" system. The Constitution provides that everyone is entitled to be represented in a criminal action. Somewhere along the line, criminal defense lawyers (who are not the bottom of the barrel of the legal profession, contrary to what you may think) have distorted that to mean that their job is to get these people acquitted. That is simply not the case. An attorney's first duty is to the integrity of the system, not to try to game it for their own benefit.
It has been reported over and over that what President Bush did is allowable. These defense attorneys now appear poised to muddy up the waters for the sole purpose of getting their clients released. Are they doing this for a noble cause? I highly doubt it. If they manage to get a terrorist acquitted, their names will be in the press and on TV. Then, they can raise their rates, write books, go on all the TV talk shows, etc. Doesn't sound noble to me.
When are people going to get "it" that we are in a fight for our very existence. How do the people who are resisting our efforts in this regard envision their lives if we lose?
