PART II: THINKING OF BECOMING A LIBERAL?
By Letters To The Editor John W. Lillpop (01/17/06)
Still thinking of becoming a liberal? That which
follows is typical of the illogic & denial one must
accept in embracing a liberal's mindset:
* By failing to "connect the dots" before 9/11, the
Bush administration allowed terrorists to murder 3,000
innocent Americans. Nonetheless, domestic spying
authorized by the president subsequent to 9/11 without
a court order is an impeachable offense. The fact that
America has not been attacked in nearly five years is
irrelevant and should in no way interfere with efforts
to remove George Bush from office.
* A single holiday----"Presidents Day"---- is
sufficient homage to the 43 men elected to serve as
president of the United States. Whereas, a completely
separate holiday----Martin Luther King day---- is
necessary to honor one non-elected communist
sympathizer of dubious morals who fought only for
those who shared his ethnicity.
* Diversity of opinion & tolerance thereof must be
observed at all costs. Except when it involves a
conservative like Samuel Alito who should be denied
confirmation to the Supreme Court, not because of
integrity or qualifications questions, but because of
his non-liberal positions.
* Politicians who accepted money from Jack Abramoff
are disgraced partners in a "culture of corruption"
and must be removed from office. Except those named
Reid, Kennedy, Murray, or Gephart, or otherwise
identifiable as Democrats.
* Denial of gratification(abstinence) is not a
reasonable means for preventing unwanted results in
situations involving sexual passions. Except when
heterosexuals are forced to share military facilities
with gays, in which case it is perfectly reasonable to
expect that gays will be able to exercise complete and
total control over their passions. To believe
otherwise renders one a homophobic bigot.
* Honesty in government is vital and must never be
sacrificed for political expediency. That is, unless a
Democrat president has lied, under oath, in a legal
proceeding involving allegations of sexual harassment,
in which case perjury can be overlooked because the
presidential lie was only about sex.
* President Bush bears full responsibility for the
economy, especially during a period of recession, job
losses and a declining stock market. On the other
hand, Mr. Bush & his tax cuts deserve no credit
whatsoever for economic expansion, lower unemployment,
and a soaring stock market.
Again, the BIG question: Are YOU mindless enough to be
a liberal?
