Hillary shows how to abuse a day of recognition
By JT Thompson (01/17/06)
Hillary chose the holiday for Martin Luther King to once again focus on herself, and abuse the entire recognition of the day itself.
She started off by saying that the house has been "run like a plantation". She continues with"
"It has been run in a way so that nobody with a contrary point of view has had a chance to present legislation, to make an argument." and later: "You know, Hurricane Katrina may have been a natural disaster, but the new Medicare prescription drug benefit is a man-made disaster,"
Hillary also knew that her bad choices would require people to defend her. Philippe Reines, Clinton spokesperson had this to say:
"As she said, under Republican rule the House leadership has stifled real and substantive debate, preventing Democrats from offering amendments and engaging in real discussion,"
Representative Gregory W. Meeks From NYC had this to say in defense of the Junior Senator:
"The Republicans are trying to deflect the truth and Dr. King stood for the truth."
Clearly this is a case of abusing the opportunity to respect and remember Dr King, and turn it into a pointing device to further your own political career. Since Hillary has been sinking in the polls lately she's apparently taken this time to over step her recognition and take desperate actions. Even if she does mention things that she's well known for failing with (remember her experience with health care?)
