Contrary to Alan Caruba’s claims...

Dear Editor:
Contrary to Alan Caruba’s claims, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals works only peacefully and legally as we try to eliminate violence to animals who are abused and killed for fur and for food, in experiments, and in cages and chains at the circus. Real violence is taking place inside slaughterhouses and laboratories and behind the curtain at the “big top” where elephant babies are taken from their mothers and routinely hit with sharp, metal bullhooks by “trainers.” Caruba may not agree with animal rights proponents, but it is irresponsible to lie about the work of law-abiding citizens who are dedicated to advocating compassion. Readers interested in learning the truth about PETA can visit PETA.org.
Sincerely,
Christina Matthies
