Age Old Question Answered – What is Truth?
By J. James Estrada (02/01/06)
The day after the State of the Union speech, the residents of my home state were greeted to this frontpage, above the fold, extra size, bold headline: Bush attempts new start
The Arizona Republic used the Washington Post article by Dan Balz and Jim VandeHei for this story. The Republic is Arizona’s newspaper. One wonders why the paper of record in any area needs to rely on outside sources to bring news to its readership. But, to the point: Bush needs a new start?
This President is spearheading a global war and has succeeded in keeping America free from attack, post 9/11. How has he done that? Bush has made this very clear; by taking the war to the enemy, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, etc., remain untouched by the activities that we see on the frontlines of the Iraqi battlefield.
Bush has drawn that “line” in the sands of Baghdad and dared the enemy step over it. They have fallen into the trap. If Bin Laden had his way, the line would be elsewhere. That is the definition of “winning.”
And so, the liberal media is not up to speed on this reality. What does that make the liberal media? It makes them boldfaced liars. Some may call it opposition “spin.” If this is correct, then why is the media the opposition of 1) America, 2) the President and 3) the Truth?
In the first century A.D., Pontious Pilate had the opportunity to ask this question of the most capable person to answer it: “What is truth?” Jesus did not have to be imagined by the Roman governor (like network television envisioned in the cancelled Daniel program). He was standing right in front of him. Come to think of it, Pilate is to be commended for asking such a fruitful question of the Son of Man.
‘What is truth’ is what is not found on the frontpage of the major newspapers in this country. It is not what is transmitted on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR and the rest. It is not found on the lips of liberals in Washington. Sadly, it is not found in many pulpits around the nation (truth there is a criminal offense).
Pilate didn’t get the answer he wanted. But, of course, there was no Christiana Amanpour back then. There was Christ. And he was the Way, The Truth and The Life. Still is. He just didn’t know “truth” when he saw it.
Oh, I didn’t buy the paper.
