Can America Survive Three More Years of George W Bush?
By Letters To The Editor John W. Lillpop (02/20/06)
In the name of full disclosure, I confess to voting for George W Bush in 2000. After eight years of Clinton and Gore, I eagerly anticipated the renaissance of conservative values, especially with a "conservative" president supported by GOP-majorities in both houses of congress.
By November 2004, I was convinced President Bush was no conservative, not even close in fact. Thus, I wrote- in the name of Tom Tancredo without the slightest hesitation, because in California John Kerry was a shoo-in against Bush. Hell, Ronald McDonald could have beaten Bush that year, at least in California.
Looking back objectively over the past five years of the GW Bush pr! esidency, one must seriously question whether America can survive another three years with this fellow in the Oval Office.
Consider some of Bush's major disappointments:
-Unprecedented spending
-Out of control budget deficits
-Record foreign trade deficits
-New Medicare prescription entitlement program
-Total confusion and disarray re prescription entitlement
-Refusal to secure borders with Mexico
-Inability to reform ! social security
-Nomination of Harriet Meyers to US Supreme Court
-Inaction while Mexican military conducts incursions into US
-Inaction with regard to 15 million illegal immigrants in America
-Botched trial of Saddam Hussein
-Failure to revise the alternative minimum tax
-Meltdown of FEMA
-Questionable domestic surveillance
-Election of Hammas by Palestinians
And the most outrageous misstep of all: Bush has approved the sa! le of US port security to the United Arab Emirate(UAE), a move opposed by the likes of Hillary Clinton, Charles Schumer and Barbara Boxer because of concerns about national security. National security, you know, the issue that used to be Bush's "strong suit."
Clearly, America needs a change NOW. Herewith a scenario that can save the nation:
1. Dick Cheney resigns
2. Bush nominates Condelezza Rice as VP.
3. After Rice is confirmed, Bush resigns to spend more time with the tumbleweed and illegal immigrants at his ra! nch in Crawford.
4. Rice ascends to the Oval Office and nominates Tom Tancredo as VP.
5. After confirmation, Tom Tancredo develops a plan to shut down the border and deport all illegal immigrants.
By implementing this plan soon, America will be spared three more years of disastrous misjudgments from GW Bush.
In addition, we Republicans would have an excellent presidential ticket in place for 2008!
