Mexicans, You Are Marching in the Wrong Country!

The upcoming demonstrations and boycotts of U.S. businesses by the illegal immigrant community and their supporters on May 1 would appear to be a huge public relations blunder by the protest organizers. Even the Mexican government has realized this, saying, unofficially and on condition of anonymity, that they were in favor of "a more moderate tone." One of the representatives of the illegal immigrants was quoted in a Dallas newspaper as saying the Mexican government should not tell the protesters what to do because they have to "defend their rights" on their own. Just what "rights" do people illegally in this country think they have?
Usually in this country the press and the liberal community spend a great deal of time and energy analyzing the “root causes” of criminal conduct in an effort to explain it and justify leniency no matter what the offense and circumstances. In this case, there is a lack of such analysis. If there was such analysis, it would soon become evident that the reason for the mass exodus of Mexicans from their country is the corruption, incompetence and failed policies of their own government. Rather than working to replace the corrupt and incompetent leaders, their response is to cross the U.S. border and take all they can from a country whose political leaders do not have the will to stop it.
If our ancestors had taken the same approach, there might not be a United States of America today. Rather than throwing tea into the Boston harbor and rocks at British soldiers, they would have simply looked for a country where life was easier and entry not a problem. Fortunately, our forbears confronted the oppressive government that ruled them and, at great cost and sacrifice, replaced it with a new and better government. What a novel concept!
Perhaps the May 1 protesters and illegal immigrants should organize a massive march upon Mexico City. An “army” of 11 million lawful citizens demanding an end to oppressive and corrupt government surely would have an impact on Mexican politicians. It might even cause others to support their cause, leading in time to a replacement of the current power structure which has done nothing to improve the lot of the ordinary Mexican citizen. Arise, march and throw the rascals out! Face the problems in your own country and deal with them.
In 1776, our ancestors declared that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, “it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it” and to institute new government. The Mexican people, particularly the 11 million or so in the United States illegally, might consider whether their energies should be focused on their government and their country, rather than walking away from their own country in its time of need and demanding “rights” from their neighbor to the north.
Go back to your country. Tell your government you have seen that freedom and prosperity can be obtained through citizens demanding honest government and working for reform and improvement. Knowing what is possible, go and take back your own country and make it into a desirable place to live. Wave your banners and shout your slogans in Mexico City and in every town and village throughout the country. That is where you can legitimately “demand” your “rights.” You may have the right idea—just the wrong country in which to put it into action and give vent to your anger and frustration.
