Freedom's Hope

Our information age has made us good at one thing. We can spot a lying dishonest politician with ease. If the Internet merely gives us the ability to identify lying politicians, it’s really a useless tool politically. Most of us had the ability before the Internet.
Yet, I think our gift, our greatest opportunity is to find and support the good and the decent. Everywhere I hear people talking threatening to vote third party just because their candidate’s not a Republican and people want to punish Republicans.
Now, maybe there are some candidates and some situations that’s called for in. But, there’s a question that’s missed in the midst of all this angst. How are you going to make it better?
Across America, there are good, decent people who want to enforce our nation’s laws, stand up for Its values, and live honest lives. Some are willing to be leaders. They’re willing to be type of men and women that we say we want in our nation’s politics, but they languish and no one lifts a finger to help them. Indeed, they get lumped in with all the corrupt politicians.
Running as a candidate for State House, there was the person who didn’t like the fact that my wife was my campaign treasurer and the other who didn’t like my beard. Yes, all very important issues in electing a candidate for office. Or are they really?
If I were a betting man, I’d be willing to lay odds that somewhere in your county, within your geographical area is someone whose committed to Conservative values, someone whose serious and sane, honest, and dedicated to great principles. I challenge you to do some real research and find the good and decent people standing up for your values, be it in a School board election or Congress of the United States. Stand with them in your own way. Write them an encouraging letter, become involved in their campaign, or send money.
America only wins if people stand up. Whining and moaning is not the American way, and if that’s all that people can manage, we’re better off letting the illegal aliens in with amnesty. At least they know how to do something about what they believe. It times to cast your lot in and stand by the people who stand by you.
Maybe you’ll lose on election day and maybe you’ll win. It doesn’t matter. In defeat, an honest and principled man can sew the seeds of victory. Let us be about America’s business and take back our country from those who’ve sold us out. It’s a long process, its going to take time, but as Thomas Paine said, “The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”
