Tribute to Heroes: Thomas Lowell Tucker and Kristian Menchaca
By J. James Estrada (06/21/06)
We stand with the families of the brave heroes of the 101st Airborne Division, Pfc. Thomas Lowell Tucker, 25, and Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, who were killed in Iraq this week. May their hearts leap at the sight of their Savior and may their spirits forever soar as eagles.
These words are in tribute:
Warrior
There’s a warrior in all of us
It’s as if we are dared to believe
When the call goes out
We cannot doubt the warrior is me
The Cheyenne waters flow free
And the sky is the eagle’s home
The tree is for the owl
It’s perch from which to see alone
Painted horse and rider
Into the night
Over land and out of sight
And the shot’s ring out
The alarm it sounds
Lay down all fear and fight
There’s a warrior in all of us
It’s as if we are dared to believe
When the call goes out
We cannot doubt the warrior is me
My shame is back to haunt and shout
Flying its ugly flag from dark till noon
But in the end the banner that prevails
Contains an amber cross on blue
