Will The Palestinians Ever Learn?
By Pete Fisher (06/30/06)
The last few weeks have shown us that no matter what treaty Israel makes with the Palestinians, chaos will continue to reign in the region.
Israel gave them land to make peace. They removed settlements and abandoned housing and infrastructure to allow Palestinians to move into the designated areas. Yet the firing of missiles and kidnappings by Palestinians continues no matter what Israel does to make peace with them.
The Palestinians elected Hamas to run the new state, and have been battling increased poverty and the loss of international money that has been given to them the West, and cannot even collect government paychecks, as most banks refuse to honor them anymore.
They have shown that their ability to make decisions is strictly limited to their religious ideology, and in keeping with Islamic militant thinking, continue to push for the removal of Israel from the region. How should the world respond to this mentality? When we continue to see such an aversion to actual peace between Israel and the Palestinians due to the actions of the Palestinians, it becomes hard to feel sorry for them anymore.
Is it Israel who is depriving their children of food and employment? Israel has provided the bulk of employment for Palestinians in the area, allowing them in and out of the border to work. And they are repaid by suicide bombers in the form of men, women, and children who detonate bombs with a blatant disregard for human life. They fire missiles into Israeli towns from residential areas, and when Israel retaliates and bombs the house where the missile was fired, the protests begin along with vows of vengeance because some civilians were killed.
What is Israel supposed to do? Does the world expect them to give notice of an air strike to remove any non-terrorist entity from the neighborhood prior to bombing the terrorist element? History has shown us that when given the opportunity, Islamic militants will leave the area and let the residents take the punishment for their actions. Fair warning does nothing to protect ordinary citizens when militants hide beneath the skirts of the local women and behind the backs of the children. Yet they scream in protest when these people get killed in a retaliatory strike in a designated residential area chosen by militants. As if they actually had any concern for human life to begin with. Had some of those same children not been killed in retaliatory actions, there would have been a good chance they would have been sent into a mall with a bomb strapped to their chest.
Hamas has continued the rape of the Palestinian people that started with the Arab League, and was refined under Arafat. The Arab world never wanted the Palestinians. Between Syria and Jordan, they slaughtered hundreds of thousands when they tried to obtain a state within those countries by means of terror. The Muslim world turned its head when the Palestinians wanted Israel due to them being the only non-Islamic country in the area. And now they turn their heads when the Palestinians lob missiles daily into Israel and send their children across the border with bombs. They never protest when Palestinian children kill themselves or others in vile attacks. They only do so when those same children are killed because the militants ducked and ran after an act of terror, leaving the children behind to pay the price. The U.N. falls for this trick all the time, bashing Israel for their actions while defending their tiny country. It never mattered that most of Jerusalem was sold by the Palestinians to the Jews earlier in the last century. It never mattered that in 1967 when Israel took the Temple Mount after being attacked, that they could have razed the Dome of the Rock and rebuilt their old temple on its’ original site. And because they were attacked, and war was waged on Israel, it would have been a legal action had they chosen to do such a thing.
But once again, Israel wanted peace, and allowed the Dome to remain under control of Muslims. When Egypt invaded Israel, Israel returned the land they had taken in that war. History has shown that Israel has time and again does not desire conflict with her Islamic neighbors and has given back land and resources they had a legal right to keep. But the Palestinians have not learned this yet, as militants, who for some deep-seated reason desire to take more and more, no matter what concessions are made to appease them, and continually break the treaties.
This is why the world has remained so quiet about the latest retaliatory actions in Gaza against the Palestinians. The rest of the world has begun to see that the Palestinians do not truly desire peace. When Hamas threw their hat in the ring during the last elections, nations worldwide warned that they would not support a terrorist element as a legal government. Yet they elected them anyway. Now that they are starving and in dire poverty, the blame will go once again not to those who are to blame, but to Israel and America. People are getting tired of the Palestinian tactics and temper tantrums, and are beginning to see that an air strike to stop Palestinian violence against Israel is no more than a brat child in a grocery store getting a slap in the head for misbehaving.
Though most people do not take kindly to child abuse, even the most liberal mind at times can understand that it takes more than a village to raise a child, it takes a swift kick in the pants. However, the Palestinians have a different view of things. Like an 18-year-old teenager, they believe they should have all the freedoms their parents have without the hard work involved to obtain that lifestyle. They want all the privileges without the responsibility. In this case, the Palestinians have a different view of life. They do not believe that it takes an entire village to raise a child.
In the Palestinian mind, it takes an entire village to raise an idiot.
