New Jersey's Two U.S. Senators Are 'Anti-America!'
By Gordon Bishop (07/24/06)
During the 27 years I worked at the Newark Star-Ledger as a columnist and investigative reporter (1969-1996), I got to know U.S. Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez (both Democrats).
Lautenberg and I worked together on many environmental reform laws for our nation, while Menendez and I both shared an interest in Liberty Sate Park on the Jersey City waterfront. Menendez was then a Congressman representing Hudson County.
Since the Democrat Party has been hijacked by the liberal-socialists over the past six years, allowing Republican George W. Bush to be elected twice as President, Lautenberg and Menendez have jointed the ranks of the Far Left in voting along with the anti-America liberal socialists.
I always knew that Lautenberg and Menendez were liberal. That didn’t bother me. Personally, I’m an Independent Libertarian: “The best government is less government.”
Lautenberg and Menendez believe the best government is more government, much like the centralized dictatorships of the old Soviet Union (long gone), the Peoples Republic of China, Cuba and other communist-controlled countries throughout the world.
Lautenberg and Menendez no longer represent the voters and taxpayers in their State of New Jersey.
Example: Lautenberg and Menendez voted against making English the “official language of America.”
Example: Lautenberg and Menendez voted to “give illegal aliens Social Security benefits.
Are these guys insane?
If you look at what’s happening in New Jersey, they feel right at home with that State’s new liberal-socialist Governor, Jon Corzine.
This month, Corzine shut down the state’s government and even huge segments of the private sector just so he could increase New Jersey’s sales tax and dozens of more taxes to balance a state budget that was $4.5 billion in debt.
Yes, New Jersey remains on the brink of bankruptcy because socialists like Corzine, Menendez and Lautenberg simply refuse to “downsize state government” because the Democrats control the State Legislature, the Governor’s Office and the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Frankly, liberalism is destroying New Jersey, where tens of thousands of residents are leaving the Garden State, along with thousands of businesses (employers).
After what Corzine did by expanding state government another $2 billion, you’ll be seeing an exodus of the “best and the brightest” to neighboring states like Pennsylvania, Delaware and beyond to avoid paying the highest property taxes in the nation, the highest auto insurance and highest pupil cost.
Living and working in New Jersey is like wearing a financial rope around your neck and watching your income go down with every new tax and fee imposed by a liberal-socialist government controlled by the Democrat Party.
Like Republican President Ronald Reagan, a former Democrat and President of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), said many years ago, “I didn’t leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me.”
Reagan went on to become a two-term Republican Governor of California and a two-term Republican President.
And that’s why George W. Bush beat liberal-socialist Al Gore in 2000 and liberal-socialist John Kerry in 2004. American taxpayers and voters are tired of seeing their paychecks shrink as government and taxes keep growing and growing.
Sure the Far Left hates President Bush. So do the liberal media. So does Hollywood.
But Bush beat all three in his quest to bring America back to its traditional values and morals. Remember eight years of the untraditional Clintons, Bill & Hillary? They set the stage for the terrorists striking America when President Clinton refused three times to take Osama bin Laden when the Sudanese and Saudi Arabia (bin Laden’s native land) offered the Al-Qaida leader to “Slick Willie.”
The Clintons, anti-military and anti-war activists, wanted nothing to do with getting rid of bin Laden once and for all. The gutless, wimpy Clintons sold out America, yet these two creeps still control the Leftist Democrat Party.
God Bless America!
