Ancient Book Discovery: Coincidence?
By Rob Hood (07/27/06)
At this moment the Middle East is a very violent place to be. War is almost a way of life there, but that is nothing new to this region of the world. Israel has been at war with her neighbors ever since the land was given to Abraham of the Old Testament.
Anyone who has studied the Bible long enough or been Christian long enough, knows that Israel is God's chosen people through whom the promised Messiah would come. That is, Jesus, or course. We know that Israel rejected Him, but the Gentiles, who are us, did not. However, God never breaks His covenant and Israel today is still just as much God's chosen people as he was when He promised Abraham so many descendants that they could not be counted. God stated that Abraham's people who be like the sands of the beach, there would be so many.
We can see all throughout the Old Testament history where Israel would go astray from God and He would bring an enemy upon them, capture them, enslave them, and the people who eventually turn back to Him. However, He promised that a line of King David would remain forever, who is again Jesus. However, He also promised to preserve the Israeli people.
With all of the fighting against Israel today, one has to wonder where God is. Is He using radical Islamic groups to bring Israel back to Him? Will He destroy the enemies of Israel as He has done so many times before? These are great questions, but something recently happened that is so eerie, that one has to wonder if it is God speaking to us or whether it is strictly coincidence.
According to The Clarion-Ledger, a local newspaper in Mississippi, a construction worker recently dug up an ancient book that dates back to the years 800 - 1000. It was a simple 20 page book that was written in Latin. When it was found it was opened to a page that was describing Psalm 83, in which God hears the complaints of other nations' attempts to destroy the name of Israel. This book was found in Dublin, Ireland on Tuesday. Pat Wallace of the National Museum of Ireland called it a "miracle find". This book will be stored and analyzed and eventually be placed on public display.
Was this a miracle? Is God speaking to us about His people again or is this a hoax? If not a hoax, then surely I personally take this as a warning to not slander Israel. If we take a look into history, we will see that every nation that attacked Israel and enslaved it's people were eventually brought to its knees or destroyed completely. Perhaps Hezbollah and Hamas awaits the same fate? I am sure glad to be on the right side. As Mr. T would always say "I pity the fool" that messes with Israel. Hezbollah has rockets and crazed madmen fighting, but Israel has the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe on it's side. So now, who's side are you on?
