Americans...Feel They Are Safer

The above headline appeared in the 9/11/06 edition of U.S. News & World Report, my favorite news magazine because it is “fair and balanced.”
The complete headline would not fit across the top of my computer page. Here is the full headline:
“Americans believe theirs is a more dangerous world, but they also feel they are safer.”
This was the lead story on Page 1 of U.S. News. The magazine’s lead story was headed: “Accepting ‘The New Normal.’”
The “New Normal” comes down to this: “We mourned, united, and adapted. But five years after 9/11, we are divided once again.”
Yes, we live in two Americas today – The Blue America and the Red America.
The “blue states” are liberal and prefer socialism, or big government and ever more taxes.
The “red states” are fiscally conservative with traditional values, and believe that America is a Constitutional Republic (Rule of Law) – not a “democracy,” which leads to anarchy (Mob Rule). For more background, read “The Republic” by the Greek philosopher Plato more than 2,000 years ago.
America has a serious education problem today because most public schools no longer teach geography or civics. If you don’t understand history, then today’s students will repeat the mistakes of the past.
Too many students are graduating from high school with little or no knowledge of their country and world events. They’re preoccupied with too much “pop” TV and sports and other non-educational activities.
Recent educational SAT scores are dropping, reflecting the dumbing down of our public school system.
Teaching students to be “Politically Correct” (PC) is taking its toll in classrooms throughout the country.
Terms like “right or wrong”…”good and bad” or “black and white” are no longer considered proper for the PC crowd. Being PC is more important than being right.
America can never win the war on terror by being politically correct. War involves killing the enemy before the enemy kills you.
Today’s 21st Century terrorists are still living in medieval times. They have only one mission in life: Kill everyone who doesn’t believe in their way of life. And their way of life is the complete opposite of what Western Civilization stands for: Freedom, Liberty and Opportunity.
Freedom is anathema to these radical terrorists. Liberty is foreign where they come from. And opportunity is for men only, not women. The terrorists are still living in the 7th Century. The rest of the world lives n the 21st Century.
As long as America remains divided, terrorists will have the upper hand. Enemies love to divide and conquer. That’s how you win wars, whether it’s a civilian war or a global war.
Americans must wake up and join the war on terror. If they don’t, the terrorists will win and America will be history. We’ll be wiped off the face of the earth.
I’m fed up with the liberal-socialist wing of the Democrat party undermining President Bush in his global war on terror and the current Iraqi war. These Far Left liberals have completely forgotten the 9/11 terrorists attacks on America, killing more than 3,000 innocent children, woman and men.
Terrorists kill innocent civilians, using hospitals, houses of worship and people’s homes as their launching pad to destroy every person of Jewish and Christian faith, plus all “infidels.”
These insane terrorists see America as a nation of “infidels.”
Those who don’t support the war on terror should leave America and move to where they think they can find a safer place to live. The problem here is that every country in Europe and Asia have formidable populations of terrorists willing to kill themselves for their cause.
America is in big trouble today because those who don’t like America are trying to destroy America.
