The Weak After: UCLA Shock, Kramer, And The Orgasm For Peace
By Bob Parks (11/23/06)
Mass Resistance - As some of you may know, I’ve been busy with a little side venture. Here’s a radio interview that aired last weekend. This should explain why my writing volume has tapered off as of late.
Rodney King Tabatabainejad
As I was watching Democracy Now! in the performance of my daily employment duties, I overheard a familiar victimization story unfolding. Just the kind of victim hostess Amy Goodman can’t resist exploiting….
AMY GOODMAN: As we move on to our next story, officials at the University of California of Los Angeles are launching an independent investigation into campus police officers repeated shocking of an Iranian-American student with a taser-stun gun. The incident took place last Tuesday evening, in a UCLA library filled with students studying for their midterm exams.
The student, Mostafa Tabatabainejad, a 23-year-old senior, was in the library's computer lab. A campus police ordered him to leave after he failed to produce a student ID. Police then handcuffed Mostafa and shocked him with a taser gun at least five times. The entire incident was captured on video by another student and has been widely seen on local news and the website YouTube. In the video, Mostafa can be heard screaming “I said I would leave”, after police repeatedly shock him with a taser
gun.
For those of you on dial-up, here’s a transcript of around three minutes of the video….
POLICE: Stand up! Stop fighting! (inaudible yelling)
MOSTAFA: (inaudible screaming and crying) Here’s your Patriot Act! Here’s your ****ing abuse of power!
POLICE: Stop fighting this!
MOSTAFA: I'm not fighting you! I said I would leave! I said I would leave!
(inaudible shouting)
UNKNOWN VOICE: I want your badge numbers.
MOSTAFA: I got tased for no reason. I said I would leave this god-forsaken place. You shocked me. You’re abusing your power. Here’s your justice at (inaudible) American University.
POLICE: Stand up! Stand up! Stand up! Stand up! Stand up!
UNKNOWN VOICE: You just shocked him!
POLICE: Stand up! Get up! Get Up!
UNKNOWN VOICE: Don't do that!
POLICE: Get up. Stand up. Get Up, or you’ll get tased again.
UNKNOWN VOICE: Don't! Don’t do that!
POLICE: Stand up! Get up! Get up!
MOSTAFA: (inaudible: Screaming and Crying)
POLICE: (Police yelling.)
MOSTAFA: I'll leave. I said I would leave.
POLICE: Stand up!
AMY GOODMAN: Mostafa was stunned at least five times. Mostafa's attorney, Steven Yagman, said he plans to file a Federal Civil Rights Lawsuit, accusing the UCLA police of a brutal excessive force, as well as false arrest. He said Mostafa initially refused to show his ID because he thought he was being singled out because of his Middle Eastern appearance. Mostafa’s of Iranian descent, but a US Citizen by birth and a resident of Los Angeles. Meanwhile, more than 200 UCLA students marched to the
University police station Friday, calling for an independent investigation and the suspension of the officers involved.
According to the Los Angeles Times, “ Mostafa Tabatabainejad, a 23-year-old senior, was asked for his ID as part of a routine nightly procedure to make sure that everyone using the library after 11 p.m. is a student or otherwise authorized to be there. Campus officials have said the long-standing policy was adopted to ensure students' safety. Authorities said Tabatabainejad refused repeated requests by community service officers and regular campus police to provide identification or to leave.”
If the library personnel ignored the rule and let some armed gunman in without showing an ID and shot some students, the same people now protesting on the UCLA campus, would be protesting that security was inadequate.
Also, like the Rodney King video, we don’t see what got this all started in the first place. I’ve attended college and I’ve never seen campus police hanging out at the library. Mr. Tabatabainejad must have done something to have campus police called in the first place. It would seen if he had just shown his ID, none of this would have occurred.
A valuable lesson for you students out there. Rules are there for a reason. Obey them, as they are meant for everyone. You aren’t special.
If They Do It
I was emailing with a friend of mine at Fox Broadcasting in Hollywood as the killing of the O.J. Simpson book/television show was announced. My friend felt that Fox was in a damned if you, damned if you don’t situation.
Like someone will say, “I’m not watching American Idol any more because Fox ran that O.J. interview.”
Maybe Rupert Murdoch is saving the special for sweeps.
When some television network decides to make “Girls Gone Wild: The Special”, people will act all agast, and still watch. How long will it take that network to react to the high ratings and make “Girls Gone Wild: The Series”…?
I'm one of the three percent of blacks who believe O.J. did it. Simpson is an egomaniacal loser and is way past his fifteen minutes of fame. His lack of remorse will be his undoing and this book and television interview would have cemented his place at the bottom of the barrel.
Instead, we've all given him another reason to come back later... and he will.
We Still Don't CAIR
Back to the UCLA incident.
Amy Goodman had an interview with Hussam Ayloush, Executive Director of the Southern California Council on American Islamic Relations. He was commenting about a segment on Glenn Beck's show on CNN's Hedline News.
GLENN BECK: I, I will tell you. May I? May we have five minutes here where we're just politically incorrect and I play the cards face up on the table?
KEITH ELLISON: Go there.
GLENN BECK: Ok. No offense, and I know Muslims, I like Muslims, I've been to mosques. I really don't believe that Islam is a religion of evil. I think it's been hijacked, quite frankly. With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying let's cut and run and I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies and I don't -- I know you're not. I'm not accusing you of being an
enemy, but that's the way I feel and I think a lot of Americans are feeling that way.
KEITH ELLISON: Well, let me tell you the people of the 5th Congressional District know that I have a deep love and affection for my country. There's no one who is more patriotic than I am. And so, I don't need to prove, to prove my patriotic stripes--
AMY GOODMAN: That was the newly-elected Congress Member from Minneapolis, Keith Ellison, first Muslim to be elected to Congress in the United States, being interviewed by CNN’s Glenn Beck.
With that, CAIR's Hussam Ayloush went where others in his organization have gone before....
“Well, I would say that's why he won the election for Congress, because he's a diplomat. Probably, because he could hold his temper. If it was for me, I would have said, I am extremely offended. What Mr. Beck did, it is nothing short of total bigotry. To question the patriotism of an American Citizen who happens to be Muslim, because he's questioning the issues of Iraq, the failed immoral policies of this administration is nothing short of pure racism and bigotry. And if this was -- if this was
tried on a Jewish person, or a Black person, or any other person, he would not have to continue his show after that.
Seeing how some Islamo-fascists are vocally showing pride in exterminating blacks in Africa and Jews in the Middle East, the fact that Ayloush can claim victimhood is an intentional insult. CAIR members have worked to finance terror organizations all over the world, so their activities are always suspect with this writer.
If, during World War II a German-American or Japanese-American were elected to Congress, I'm sure many people would question their allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Glenn Beck is not a bigot, but someone asking legitimate questions. Congressman Ellison has advocated, during his campaign, the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. That policy will not only reward the terrorist insurgents, but will weaken our position when the bad guys strike, and one day soon, they
will strike here.
Beware of CAIR.
The New Kramer?
I'm sure many of you have heard about Michael “Kramer” Richards tirade at West Hollywood's “Laugh Factory.” Someone who obviously snuck in a video camera, shot the video segment of the year. For those of you on dial-up, Richards replied to hecklers....
"Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a ****ing fork up your ass."
"You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now mother****ker. Throw his ass out. He's a nigger! He's a nigger! He's a nigger! A nigger, look, there's a nigger!"
Good thing he didn't direct a Jesus movie. He'd be in real trouble.
The Global Orgasm For Peace
Instead of taking to the streets on the first day of winter, a couple of activists want everyone participating to stay at home and get off for peace.
This “Global Orgasm for Peace” was invented by Donna Sheehan, 76, and Paul Reffell, 55, and they want everyone in the world to have an orgasm on December 22nd while musing on world peace.
"The orgasm gives out an incredible feeling of peace during it and after it. Your mind is like a blank. It's like a meditative state. And mass meditations have been shown to make a change."
I'm sorry, but the thought of a 76-year-old woman getting herself off is a visual I'd not wish on my worst enemy. (shudder)
