George Bush Sticking To His Guns
By Gordon Bishop (12/18/06)
While most of the leadership in the United States supports the controversial “Iraq Study,” the military fighting the global war on terror with President Bush find the report a “cut and run” defeat for America.
Terrorists also applaud the recommendations in the “Iraq Study,” which tells you why the “Iraq Study” is anti-America. Terrorists are committed to destroying America, its allies and all of Western Civilization.
The leading conservative analyst and columnist for U.S. News & World Report wrote a column this month with the “Sticking to His Guns” headline. Michael Barone writes: “Bush, like Truman and Churchill, seems determined not to concede defeat.”
Thank God! President Harry Truman, the last great Democrat President (as well as John F. Kennedy), ended World War II by dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Try that today Mr. President, with a corrupt United Nations trying to run the world.
Winston Churchill was England’s prime minister fighting the war against Hitler’s Germany, and saved London and the rest of England from the bombing raids of Hitler’s powerful air force.
Imagine a distinguished political analyst, author and columnist comparing President George W. Bush to Truman and Winston Churchill.
Far Left radicals like Michael Moore, Howard Dean, Al Gore and John Kerry refer to Bush as America’s “Hitler” and other vicious, fascist names. That’s how the liberals see George Bush and the global war on terror. They just don’t get it – and never will. Their agenda is destroying Bush and his administration, regardless of the outcome of terrorism.
Truman and Churchill didn’t have to deal with Far Left radicals, although they did have their critics from the other side of the aisle in their governments.
The Iraq Study Group cochaired by Republic James Baker and Democrat Lee Hamilton, recommended a “gradual pullback” of troops, direct negotiations with Iran and Syria, and pressure on Israel to make concessions to the Palestinians.
Simply put, the Iraq Study Group wants President Bush to negotiate with terrorists who loathe freedom and treat women as third-class citizens.
Bush has the support of all of the military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Central Command’s General John Abizaid. These are America’s military leader – not the politically-charged liberals who put themselves before America’s safety and security.
Meanwhile, Bush keeps repeating his vow not to allow Iran to get nuclear weapons. That’s in tension with the Iraq Study Group’s recommendations of direct negotiations with Iran: The obvious quid pro quo for Iranian help in stabilizing Iraq, according to Barone.
Historian Arthur Herman in this month’s Commentary calls for air strikes not only on Iran’s nuclear facilities, but also on its ports and refineries, Barone reported.
I’ve been a big fan of Michael Barone going back to my Newark Star-Ledger career (1969-1996) as a columnist and investigative reporter. The media need more Mike Barones who think and write beyond the liberal purveyors of “news.”
Barone is the media’s expert on analyzing elections and the divided America: Half blue liberal states and half red conservative states.
The mainstream media plays up the blue states’ propaganda, and ignores the red states’ traditional values, such as a mommy-and daddy- family and the right to life as opposed to abortion.
I personally see America evolving into a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah, a biblical city that God destroyed because it was thoroughly corrupt.
Just look at the sex, violence and sectarian garbage pouring out of Hollywood every day on both television and motion pictures, not to mention the hundreds of magazines and thousands of Internet websites that cater to pornography, pedophiles and same-sex marriage advocates.
Nothing seems to be sacred anymore. Not the nuclear family. Not the American flag. Not the U.S. Constitution (rule of law). Not the 10 Commandments.
Forget about God, religion, Christmas. Welcome Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and other sectarian substitutes for the Old and New Testaments.
Is this an America we all want to live with?
I don’t think so.
