The Ineffective Senator

Senator Hillary Clinton has been the junior senator from New York for 6 years. So is this one term junior senator really qualified to be President and what has she done for New York?
Hillary overwhelming won her senate rebid this past November, yet she ran against a weak opponent who was not even financed or supported by the RNC. Hillary lost the debate (video of the debate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2vzUb74Oeo)
to her opponent, John Spencer in her first unscripted , uncontrolled media event. He challenged her on her record, making her sweat to answer for her ineffective record.
Howard Wolfson, her spinmeister explained before the election, “There’s no question that we feel very good about the position we’re in because Senator Clinton has done such a “good job.”
After examining her actual record, very little evidence supports the “good job” claims.
When she first ran for senate in 2000, she promised 200,000 new jobs in upstate New York. She failed to deliver any jobs, and in fact lost 112,000 jobs in Upstate New York. (And blamed George Bush instead for her failure).
Yet she has managed to get the following laws and resolutions enacted:
• Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site
• Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month
• Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor
• Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall
• Name courthouse after James L. Watson
• Name post office after John A. O'Shea
• Designate August 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day
• Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day
• Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death
• Congratulate the Syracuse University Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
• Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship
• Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program
• Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda
• Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death
• Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.
• Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11
• Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
• Assist landmine victims in other countries
• Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care
• Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the Wilderness Preservation System.
During the past year, Hillary spent little time in New York accomplishing almost nothing, other than raising $49 million dollars for her senate campaign against a non challenging opponent. She was too busy traveling to different states exploring her Presidential bid, than accomplish anything worthwhile. During her campaign, she refused to answer questions as to whether she would serve out her entire next term as senator.
The secret to Hillary’s success has been to hire an army of reporters to tout her non-existent accomplishments as if they really amounted to anything, and report that she is a “good” senator, all the while running on her husband’s name for President.
There is no doubt that the media will continue to promote Hillary as a good candidate for President, because she was such a “good” senator. Yet her record speaks for itself.
