Democrats, Appeasers, Eagles, and Parrots
By Barbara Stock (02/03/07)
Sir Winston Churchill, who today would be considered the master of the one-liner, understood politicians extremely well. With this simple, timeless, but quite accurate statement, Churchill captures today’s liberal Democrats in the American Congress without ever meeting any of them: “When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.”
The cacophony of parrot-jabber coming out of the House and the Senate is deafening and the racket doesn’t stop there. There has been plenty of blather coming from the green zone in Iraq as well.
Like a herd of donkeys, some Democratic presidential hopefuls stampeded into Iraq so that they could claim to have seen the problems first hand. Of course, there was little that could be seen from the green zone or over the wall of bodyguards that constantly surround visiting “dignitaries.”
Hillary Rodham Clinton, looking fashionable in her body armor, lamented about how the American people and the American Congress no longer believe that the Iraq “mission” can be won. She found the entire situation, “heartbreaking.” After giving her encouragement to the troops about their failed “mission,” she turned her attention to the Iraqi government. Hillary promptly endeared herself to the democratically elected government by practically calling them all useless liars.
After her whirlwind assessment of an enormously complicated situation, Hillary jetted back to the states to give a press conference on the situation, based on her less-than-one-day visit to Iraq. The Hillary solution, and Democratic opinion as a whole, is to “redeploy” the troops outside of Iraq. “Redeploy” in the liberal dictionary means “retreat.” Victory no longer has designation in the liberal version of Webster’s. It doesn’t exist.
The only plan put forth by the Democrats has been to “redeploy” our troops “outside” Iraq. Where and in what country has not been decided. Although at one time, John Murtha, (D-Penn.) suggested Guam. Then, when the mass slaughter of anyone who assisted the coalition forces starts, and the elected Iraqi officials are all hanging from the streetlamps, our troops could rush back in and stop it. Is it possible to “rush” our troops and their supplies and equipment back from Guam?
Perhaps we can cram all of our troops, tanks, planes, and supplies in Kuwait or the United Arab Emirates so that al Qaeda can start a series of bombings there. It would be a nice change of scenery for Islamic terrorists and certainly the accommodations are better than in Iraq. Suicide bombers could easily shower before blowing someone up so they can go to paradise smelling good.
Our troops will not even have time to unpack their ammo before they would have to head right back in to a horror not seen since the liberals forced the abandoning of the South Vietnamese and Cambodian people. It will be a hundred times more dangerous than it is right now.
But still the parrots jabber. Even their smaller cousins, the parakeets, are getting into the fray. House Speaker Pelosi, with some underlings in tow, made a surprise visit to Iraq. How much is it costing the American taxpayer for all these useless visits to Iraq? These people aren’t going there to “get a clear picture of the situation.” They are going there because they can and the American taxpayer has to pay for it and it makes a great photo-op. There is no way that anything Ms. Pelosi and company sees or hears while there will change their minds in the slightest.
What is dangerous about all these visits is the fact that no one knows what Hillary or Nancy or John Murtha is telling the various governmental leaders. Are they threatening them? Are they giving the leaders they are visiting the impression that the American Congress is in charge now and it is Congress that is making policy? Are they telling President Musharraf of Pakistan and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki of Iraq that American President Bush is no longer calling the shots? Is Ms. Pelosi in Afghanistan giving orders and issuing threats to President Hamid Karzai? That is certainly the impression they wish to give even if it goes unspoken. Congress does not make foreign policy. The Constitution is very clear on this matter.
Back in America, Senator Clinton sat on her committee and announced to the world that perhaps removing the security around the Iraqi government would “get their attention.” Considering the situation, a statement like that is nothing short of a death threat. Is that how she would conduct herself as president?
As Hillary played president, and Pelosi played queen, Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) was playing out his swan song before the country conjuring up tears as he announced he would not seek the nomination of his party again. If one listened very carefully, applause and sighs of relief could be heard all across the land. Kerry made a wise choice because Kerry had his chance and he lost. Only Kerry’s enormous ego allowed him to even consider running for president again.
To soothe his fragile inner being, Kerry felt compelled to head to Europe where his socialistic views are more readily accepted. Instead of standing proud as a representative of America, he could only find words of condemnation. Words like “pariah” started tumbling out from his angry and bitter soul. Kerry looked down upon those who put America first. He elevated himself above the average American who only views the world "exclusively through an American lens." Forgive us, Senator. The American lens is the only one we have to look through.
So parrots jabber and jabber, issuing veiled threats and disparaging remarks about their own country and countrymen. Is this the new “Progressive” party? The party of jabbering parrots? There does not seem to be many liberal eagles these days.
Having not learned her lesson 40 years ago, Jane Fonda is back. At nearly 70 years old, Hanoi Jane went center stage at an anti-war rally in Washington, D.C., and is now being called “Jihad Jane.” Can the screaming at returning veterans be far behind? The pattern is clear. From the beginning, the leftists compared the war with Islamic terrorists to the war in Vietnam. They were college kids then, dancing at Woodstock and getting high on pot. It was their heyday and they loved it.
Our eagles are carefully watching the Islamic leaders of Iran as they brainwash their people into believing the death of the West is at hand and that Islam will soon rule the world. The eagle’s eye is on England, where Muslims were planning to kidnap fellow Muslims and behead them to terrorize the British Muslim population. When the time is right, the eagles will strike to protect their own while the parrots jabber.
The parrots want to jabber with our enemies—to better understand them and their anger towards the West. American liberal parrots want to appease the enemy, hoping the threat will just go away. But, returning to wisdoms of that great one-liner, Sir Winston Churchill, his comment on those who sought a dialog with someone whose goal is your death was direct and to the point: “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile—hoping it will eat him last.”
But that crocodile rarely gets to those weak appeasers because the eagles always sacrifice their lives to give the parrots the right to jabber about how wrong those eagles always are about the intentions of the crocodile.
