Reuters News Service Should Be Charged With Wire Fraud!
By Dave Gibson (02/11/07)
We are all familiar with the leftist slant with which the mainstream media delivers information. However, the 150 year old Reuters News Service takes the term 'liberal bias' to another level indeed. Reuters recently issued a report on illegal immigrants heading into the U.S. being robbed by bandits, in which they insinuate that the Minutemen had committed the crime!
On February 9, Reuters released a story entitled: "Mexico demands U.S. inquiry into migrant shootings." The report gave a very brief description about people they identified as "undocumented migrants" being robbed along the border as they attempt to cross into the U.S. The bulk of the message read as follows: "U.S.-Mexico relations over their 2,000 mile border have been tense since gangs of U.S. vigilantes who call themselves Minutemen began staking out the border area in 2005 to hunt for illegal Mexican and Central American immigrants."
Apparently, Reuters equates U.S. citizens volunteering their time to spot and report foreign nationals crossing into this country illegally with 'hunting.' Also, according to Reuters-speak these conscientious Americans are simply 'gangs.'
It did not shock me when President Bush called the Minutemen vigilantes, we know his loyalty lies south of the border. However, when a news agency makes such a blatantly bias remark I am amazed. Ordinarily, their anti-American agenda is at least somewhat thinly veiled.
After a brief examination of Reuters official website, I discovered the following laughable company statements:
"Our information is trusted and drives decision making across the globe. We have a reputation for speed, accuracy, and freedom from bias." (from Reuters Company Overview)
"We are committed to reporting the facts and in all situations avoid the use of emotive terms." (from Reuters Editorial Policy)
"We do not take sides and attempt to reflect in our stories, pictures, and video the views of all sides. We are not in the business of glorifying one side or another or of disseminating propaganda. Reuters journalists do not offer their own opinions or views." (from Reuters Editorial Policy)
Keep in mind that this is the same news agency that issued altered pictures last year, during the Israeli campaign against Hezbollah. The picture was made to look as if Israel's bombs had done more damage than had actually occurred. After American bloggers and photo experts called them on it, only then did they admit to the fraudulent act.
Whether it is assailing patriotic Americans for displaying the audacity to protect their country or furthering the Islamo-fascist agenda, Reuters is right there in the middle of it. This so-called news agency not only violates every rule of journalism, but they even violate their own stated rules of operation!
Reuters should not be considered as anything but a political organization. It may have been far different when it was founded in 1851 by Paul Julius Reuter. However, the agency no longer has a shred of credibility.
Perhaps if Josef Goebels had not been appointed as Hitler's minister of propaganda, Reuters would have hired him as their Editor in Chief!
