The Janus Factor

According to Roman mythology, the god Janus had a number of functions, or responsibilities, if you will. One of the less prominent in the Roman pantheon, to be sure, his most memorable feature was (and is to this day) that he was depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions.
One might say he was “two-faced”, although an exaggerated level of the typical Roman god’s capriciousness was not among his characteristics.
Lately I’ve been studying statements made by influential Islamic representatives in the national and global arena. Suffice it to say – and I’m sure this won’t surprise too many of you – I am not reassured by what I hear.
Quite a few pundits, most notably Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, have been asking since September 12, 2001, why Muslims worldwide and particularly in America have been loath to speak out against jihadists. While some reticence has been put down to fear of reprisal, a few (moderate and clearly Westernized) clerics have condemned those Muslims who kill indiscriminately and pervert the Koran and other Mohammedan writings to fit their twisted sociopolitical agenda, most have remained silent.
The foremost Islamic leadership, particularly in the Arab world, have been playing it very slick, employing what I now dub “The Janus Factor”: This manifests itself through moderately to dramatically toned-down language when addressing Western dignitaries and the press, followed by reversion to the most corrosive and murderous speech when addressing Arab audiences at home – their “choir”, as it were.
MECCA, Saudi Arabia, December 8, 2005 (AP) – “Iran’s hard-line president, who once called for Israel to be ‘wiped off the map,’ again sparked a barrage of international criticism Thursday, saying the Jewish state should be moved to Europe and questioning whether the Holocaust took place. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rallied forces to support a nuclear program. Israel and the USA cite Iran's hostility in weapons fears.
“President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad implied that European countries backed the founding of Israel in the Middle East in 1948 out of guilt over the Nazi genocide.
“ ‘Some European countries insist on saying that during World War II, Hitler burned millions of Jews and put them in concentration camps,’ Ahmadinejad said. ‘Any historian, commentator or scientist who doubts that is taken to prison or gets condemned.’ ”
Where this imprisonment and condemnation might be taking place I’ve yet to discover. What I have discovered is that our enemies within (the far-Left, the media, the Pelosians and other high-ranking government officials) are lapping up the “moderate” rhetoric like a starved kitten in a bowl of heavy cream. Whether they are truly sufficiently gullible to take it at face value, hate America in its present form enough to let it go by, or are simply deluded enough to believe that they, America’s unassailable Elect, will be spared Armageddon, I do not know.

The path of the people you bless, not the path of the people you doom. Help us, God, to liberate and fill this Earth with justice and peace and love and equality. And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation. Amen.”

Al-Hussainy was, of course invited by the DNC to speak. Never mind that he is reportedly a Hezbollah supporter and has denied that it is a terrorist organization. Yes, Hezbollah: which like Al-Qaeda, will even kill other Muslims to make their point. This duality seems to be no problem for the DNC; they apparently view Hezbollah as represented by reptiles such as Al-Hussainy, as akin to some sort of Islamic Salvation Army.
The DNC’s position, in addition to being national suicide, also serves to embolden anti-Semites and terrorists who have already made their way into the U.S. On February 1 of this year, Elie Wiesel, the noted Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner was attacked in a San Francisco hotel by a Holocaust denier who had been stalking him. Ironic coincidence that this occurred in Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s own Congressional district…
While Al-Hussainy is a fairly low-ranking thug, Iran’s Ahmadinejad is far more dangerous given his high position. The inconsistency of his speech, to put it delicately, has been noted by UN Watch, a nonprofit Geneva-based organization whose mandate is to monitor the performance of the United Nations. Lucky them.

Ahmadinejad is nonetheless granted the same latitude in the rhetoric department by fools in Europe and America, despite his growing alliances with nations that despise America as much as does Iran.
The late Yasser Arafat, may he roast in hell, was a seasoned pro at this type of duplicitous speech; he endlessly claimed to embrace peace (due to his accent, he pronounced it “piss”) in English to Western audiences, Jimmy Carter and everyone else obtuse enough to believe him, while roaring in Arabic back home that Israel must be destroyed at all cost.
When Neville Chamberlain declared “Peace in our time” in front of 10 Downing St. in 1938 (upon signing of the Munich Agreement with Hitler), the average East End pubcrawler who saw the newsreel and remarked “Bloody fools. Don’t they know that bloody maniac wants to take over the whole bloody world?” possessed more wisdom than all the diplomats in Europe.
At the time, the British position was more one of naïveté than of policy. America certainly has far more than its share of the naïve, but now we also have the blatantly treasonous in thought and deed among us. “America First” has become “Blame America First.” For some reason (perhaps because the conflict in Iraq wasn’t resolved within a few days), even many conservatives question the wisdom and morality of going into Afghanistan and certainly Iraq.
Following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, did Americans claim we had no business in the Philippines? No, because that’s where the enemy was. Did we blame America for foreign aggression in 1941? No, because we hadn’t yet been brainwashed by fifty years of socioglobalist propaganda.
The success of the Janus Factor is obviously just a symptom of the weakness of our foreign policy and affirmation of the political-media complex’s unfathomable passion for compromising America’s national security as well as its culture. Like Arafat’s PLO in the good old days, the longer Americans buy the lie, the longer our enemies will have to fortify their designs, insinuate themselves into the appropriate places, and perfect their military strategy – until it’s time for the next attack.
Instead of gearing up for war in 1938, the British waited for the proverbial excrement-meets-fan scenario – sort of like America did until September 11, 2001. This former New York barcrawler, perhaps like many Americans, saw our present difficulties coming twenty years ago.
