The Samson Option
By James T. Moore (03/26/07)
Most of the American media is either in a moribund condition, an unshakable state of denial, or purposely ignoring the realities in front of their very noses. What makes the media moguls think that if a coordinated suicide bombing with nuclear weapons is ever unleashed on the world, that it won't lead to the vaporization of the rest of us?
Still, they and their minions keep plodding along, with heads held high and computers on overdrive, reporting the same old party line of success at home, victory overseas, and everything everywhere coming up roses. When they all know, and we know, (but they think we don’t) that it’s all a lot of drainage seeping out of the political pipes of media sewers.
Why, instead, just once, JUST ONCE, doesn’t America’s “mass” media get off its butt, straighten its back, clench its jaw, take a deep breath, and give us a big helping of good old truth? Like the American Free Press did in this report about the “The Samson Option”
Ever hear of that? Of course you haven’t. Because it is not the media’s intent to tell us the whole truth, not even a little less than the whole truth. And also because it suggests a frightening scenario of a possible nuclear obliteration-in-waiting, compliments of our “friends” in Israel. You read right, Israel, not Iran, or North Korea or Russia.
And you can take that to the bank, because “The Samson Option”---a book which describes Israel’s defense policy of developing nuclear bombs, and using them---was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Seymour Hersh, who is apt to know something about the Jewish mind.
The Samson Option is based on the Bible story of Mr, Stronghair pulling down the temple pillars and killing a number of Philistines, along with himself. A suicidal extravaganza that made the walls come tumbling down on all of them. And it is this concept which the Israelis are willing to undertake, and if necessary---blow up that part of the world, including themselves---to defeat their Arab enemies. But even the American Free Press admits this is not a new story. The AFP reported it several years ago, but of course nobody was listening,
It seems that Israel’s former prime minister, Shimon Peres, had, during a speech in Jerusalem, admitted that Israel had nuclear weapons. This in itself was a bombshell because most mainstream Israeli newspaper had been reporting to the world that it had no such nuclear weapons. That’s odd. What did we think Israel was doing with the $3 to 5 billion in booty we send them annually, feeding the Palestinian poor?
Now the Samson Option (territorial obliteration and w/suicide) takes on a special significance when you consider that, back in 1999, Bill Clinton, who was then president, dared to mention Israel’s nuclear program, which the American public apparently knew nothing about. As you can imagine (or even may recall) this brought forth the wrath of the gods, so to speak. American Jewish organizations went bananas. The Jewish weekly, “Forward”, expressed outrage that Clinton had dared to raise for the first time concerns about Israel’s nuclear program.
And it kept snowballing. Even some 35 members of the U.S. Congress sent Clinton a letter expressing concern about the imprisonment of Mordecai Vanunu, one of Israel’s top nuclear engineers. Clinton answered the letter this way: “I share your concerns about Israel’s nuclear program. We have repeatedly urged Israel and other non-parties to the Non-Proliferation Treaty to adhere to the treaty and accept comprehensive international Atomic Energy Agency safeguards.”
To that, I say bafflegab and political twaddle. If we were, and still are, intent on preventing the threat of a global nuclear holocaust, why have we allowed Israel to keep its nuclear weapons program a secret? Why are we continually helping them beef up their military arsenal? Why do we continue to make multi-billion dollar gifts to Israel, without an accounting of what they are doing with that money? Why do we countenance statements made by executives of major American Jewish organizations, such as: “The President’s references to Israel’s nuclear program is surprising and disturbing. As far as we know, it’s unprecedented.”
Unprecedented? That’s glib and arrogant blather if ever I heard it. And above all, why, in light of what we know about the turmoil in the Middle East, especially in Iraq, do we have a bunch of Israel-first, war-hungry neo-cons in the administration advising, if not dictating, American foreign policy?
It’s one thing for Israel to harbor ill feelings and deep resentment of some of its Middle East neighbors; that at least can be understood, if not condoned. But it’s quite another thing for Israel to possess weapons that could blow up half the world, and is willing to blow themselves up with it---to annihilate an enemy.
If there is any residual sanity left in the White House (and therein lies a needless question) we should demand that no nation, friend or foe, be allowed to even contemplate the Samson Option. Especially the country that would use the billions we give it each year to build and use a nuclear option that could make the world come tumbling down---a disaster that would make Sampson’s miracle look like a practice run.
