The Media Must Be 'Fair & Balanced'
By Gordon Bishop (06/04/07)
The liberal media is undermining America's traditional values and culture by giving much too much of the Fat Left "hate America," "hate capitalism," "hate the military," "hate conservatives," and, especially, "hate George Bush."
Here’s a typical example from my hometown newspaper along the Jersey Shore:
The Asbury Park Press, New Jersey’s second largest daily newspaper, covered President Bush’s appearance the other night at a Republican fund-raiser in nearby Edison, an urban-suburban community that is largely liberal. (New Jersey politicians in control of our state government are largely liberal Democrats.)
The Press’s Page One coverage by Gannett New Jersey reporters Gene Racz and John Majeski was far from “fair and balanced.” While there were 700 Republicans at the Edison center, there were only 150 protesters or less outside yelling vile and sickening filth at the President.
Holding their “peacenik” placards and other socialist junk left over from the 1960s’ Leftist “Beatniks” and “Hippies,” the socialist Green Party was playing up for its allies in the liberal media a demonstration of photo-ops and ugly quotes blasting Bush.
The Green Party, founded in Germany and spreading throughout Europe and the United
States, is a socialist organization. Socialism, which is Marxism, is the next step toward Communism.
America was founded as a Constitutional Republic, not a Communist dictatorship.
Here’s what the Leftist Green Party (green for environmental activism), led by a retired Hazlet, NJ schoolteacher, had to say on its picketing placard:
“W’s (Bush) Report Card: death, destruction, debt, deficit, deceit.” Each “D” was highlighted in red. Red is the color of the Community Party.
Yes, we do have a Communist Party in America, but their candidates for public office never get elected (Thank God!), at least to my knowledge as an experienced columnist and investigative reporter for the last 48 years.
As a journalist all of my adult life (from 1959 to present), I’m well aware of our Constitution’s First Amendment: Freedom of Speech. It’s our First Amendment because free speech is the foundation of our free and open country.
It’s time the liberal media wake up and learn to report both sides in a true “fair and balanced” fashion.
It’s no surprise that the liberal media is slowly losing readers and TV viewers. The common sense public wants fair reporting, not a “liberal spin” 24/7.
That’s why the Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly’s nightly prime-time TV program – The “O’Reilly Factor – is the No. 1 rated program at 8 p.m. on cable television. O’Reilly knocked out CNN’s Larry King slot at 8 p.m., forcing CNN to place the liberal King’s talk show at 9 p.m.
The moderate to conservative O’Reilly now reigns supreme at the 8 p.m. prime time slot! O’Reilly, who grew up in Long Island, is a fierce promoter of traditional values, protecting religious organizations and conservative causes.
O’Reilly launched a few years ago a national campaign to shut down the Far Left, nonprofit American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which O’Reilly finds is anti-religion, anti-God and pro-abortion. Even liberal Hillary Clinton prefers “Adoption to Abortion.”
As for President Bush, most Americans – brainwashed by the liberal media – have forgotten about the 9/11 first-ever terrorists’ attack on the U.S.
And the vast majority of Americans have completely forgotten that America has been safe from terrorists on our soil since 9/11.
The big issue since 9/11 is the Iraqi War. Bush got rid of the Iraqi dictator and human killing machine Sadam Hussein, who Iraqis sentenced to death by hanging.
As “Commander-in-Chief,” Bush also got rid of Hussein’s two sicko sons.
The Iraqi War has turned into a bloody mess by Muslim Shiites killing Muslim Sunnis, and blowing up each other’s mosques in Iraq.
Bush wants to stabilize Iraq before he pulls American troops out of this vicious sectarian war.
Most of the nonpolitical citizens of Iraq are counting on American troops to stand behind their new Constitutional government based on open elections.
Bush is committed to that liberation goal for the people, by the people, and of the people.
