Yankee, we're Coming Home

On a recent speech at the Global Initiative Nuclear Terrorism Conference, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller wryly noted that ":..Terrorists do not want a seat at the diplomatic table".
This ominous reminder seems to resonate with President Bush’s official caveat that “If we do not fight the terrorists over there then we will have to fight them here”, which the media insists in blithely characterizing as just another fear mongering mantra concocted to justify his rationale for the so called “war on terror”.
Although it is often taken for granted that the media and most democrats are intent on downplaying the severity of the bloody ideological conflict we are presently engaged in, one would hardly expect a devoted Jihadist to openly disagree with the media’s disparaging assessment of Mr. Mueller or the President’s grave admonition.
This unusual consensus between the president and the terrorist “lobby” was illustrated emphatically in one of Adam Gadahn’s latest open communiqués via the internet, in which he deliberately eschewed any ambiguity concerning the terrorists’ clear objectives, and further corroborated what some continue to dismiss as nothing more than the inflated claims of a rather impetuous commander in chief.
It’s not that Adam Gadahn is an exponent of President Bush’s mission; far from it.
Mr. Gadahn – also known as Adam Pearlman, and Azzam al-Amriki (Azzam the American)- is a former U.S. citizen from California and Osama bin Laden’s newest secret weapon: a native son who’s hostility towards this country for their support of the war against Islamic radicalism drove him to enlist as a mouthpiece for the English speaking media wing of the Al Qaeda Jidah movement.
In his latest rant (the sixth of a series) Gadahn gives the United States one last chance to cease and desists from any kind of military, political, social, cultural and economic interference with any “Islamic land” in the world that is destined to become an “Islamic Shura State which will unite the Muslims of earth in truth and justice”.
According to this ultimatum, the smallest sign of a direct or indirect lack of acquiescence to his demands, whether it represents one lone American soldier left in any region that is considered Islamic territory, or one suspected enemy combatant remaining imprisoned in any American sponsored detention center, or one single ideological initiative that bears the American imprint aimed at any middle eastern country through any imaginable medium, or any conceivable form of support for the “Zionist Jews” - in short, if President Bush even looks at bin Laden cross-eyed - will be construed by Gahahn, and his boss, as sufficient justification to continue the “defensive Jihad” against this country.
Given the intransigence of Adam Gadahn’s demands - which are virtually impossible to fulfill – most people would get the distinct impression that he is not particularly interested in diplomacy; especially when they reach the paragraph in which he declares in no uncertain terms that “A pullout from Iraq alone, in the absence of compliance with the remainder of our legitimate demands... will not save [The United States of America] from our strikes”. This could very well be a perfect time for a wake up call for those Democratic hopefuls who regularly lace their stump speeches with the “get out of Iraq” leitmotiv.
Unfortunately, the notion that the terrorists are not in the least bit interested in negotiating some kind of truce with the United States is one that most liberal Democrats seem still not fully prepared to accept; but perhaps Adam Gadahn has helped, in some small way, to begin to dispel these illusions, after posting his litany of “legitimate Demands” in the internet.
Still, Adam Gadahn hard-nosed demands may be viewed by some as the delirious rants of an over-zealous lackey trying to maneuver his way around a radically fragmented terrorist entity that presently lacks the cohesiveness and leadership it once took pride in; but if his threats even barely reflect the sentiments of half of the terrorists presently wreaking havoc around the world, then I’d say there are probably a lot of reasons to be more cautious than we have been presently led to believe by those blissful optimists who see the chances of another attempted terrorist attack on our native soil as the very unlikely scenario.
