Global Warming Taxman Cometh (From Every Direction)
By J. James Estrada (11/28/07)
The man-made global warming myth is a neat little gimmick to control lifestyle choices and further the reach of the tax man into American wallets. In recent months, liberals in the U.S. Congress and state legislatures, bureaucrats at the U.N. and any number of world monetary and humanitarian organizations, have all called for tax increases to a) fight the problem and b) punish abusers. Now a new entity has an open palm ready to receive the gold and silver of the "rich" middle class. American academia!
This November 26, 2007 headline comes from the Phoenix Business Journal:
Arizona university presidents: Global warming real
Here is its opening paragraph:
The presidents of Arizona's three state universities told an audience of 200 academic, business, media and public officials Monday that not only is global warming real, but it must be addressed beyond the laboratory.
Get that, laboratory tests have proven that the sky indeed is falling.
University of Arizona President Robert Shelton is credited in the article with this gem:
…the science community must leverage its research and evidence to support societal change.
How exactly will they “leverage” their “research and evidence”?
He answers thusly:
"In the future, what I want to see is a small tax on every kilowatt of electricity drawn in Arizona to go back into the university system for further research," he said. "It's just like they do in Texas (with oil)."
Question: What is a “small tax”? What’s the average tax on a gallon of gasoline (Texas oil)?
