'Fox Business News followed by Live Prayer?'
By Michael Bresciani (03/30/08)
No, the title is not a misprint, starting Sunday night at 1:00pm EDT
(actually Monday on the East Coast) Evangelist Bill Keller will storm the
air for one half hour with his long running controversial LivePrayer
broadcast on the Fox Business Channel.
Fox’s Neil Cavuto, David Asman and Dave Ramsey will wind up their day long
before Evangelist Bill Keller makes the screen but in the wee hours of the
morning late Sunday night one of America’s most outspoken evangelists will
be talking to people about Jesus.
Keller could talk about stocks and business because he has been well
trained in business but for over eighteen years now he has dedicated
himself to the preaching of the gospel. He has been called many things by
the press because he has called politicians, preachers and celebs to
answer for their extravagance or dishonesty but always as it pertains to
the Bible and decency.
Keller is a man of many sides. He is a preacher, a prophet and a patriot
but also a man of prayer which he takes very seriously. He believes that
the most powerful tool he can us to pry America away from its appalling
decline is prayer. He does pray for the 2.4 million subscribers to his
LivePrayer website, he prays for America and starting this month he will
be praying publicly for many people via Fox Business.
Keller is different than most evangelists in that he refuses to preach to
a circuit of only believers. He says he has done that but chose to leave
the security of the “Christian base” where, if he stayed, after some hard
work both his finances and his future would be secured. He says the gospel
is for everyone so he brings it to secular TV, internet and venues like
his recent successful crusade at the famous Florida State Fair where
people have never heard the gospel before.
The ancient prophets weren’t found preaching in the synagogues or the
Temple very much. They were heard daily in some cases on the streets, in
the market places and at public meeting places.
Keller conducts himself much in the same way as the ancient prophets and
he his message is very much like the prophet Isaiah or Jeremiah.
A look at Keller’s ministry and a study of the prophets would produce the
same results in some ways. Known to few is the fact that while the ancient
prophets blasted Israel and the surrounding nations for there sinfulness,
they were after all patriots and lovers of there own nation. Some of them
tried to get out of speaking for God by running away, making excuses or
holding back in fear. In the end they all obeyed God but all were subject
to great sorrows because they knew God meant business…no, not the kind of
business you’ll find on Fox. Keller is more than able to explain what kind
of business God is talking about.
Although Bill has been heartily criticized for his stand against Mitt
Romney’s religion, Oprah’s New Age leanings and Obama’s meteoric unchecked
rise in the American voters minds he is extremely soft spoken and is
always a gentleman. His knowledge of the Bible is unquestionable and his
theology is sound. If TV watchers can get over their initial shock when
they see how forthright he is they will have something to learn.
Bill has been the host of one of TV’s most popular live programs since
2003. His show was seen on CBS affiliate stations in Tampa and later in
both Jacksonville and West Palm Beach Florida. His daily “LivePrayer” show
can be seen courtesy of live streaming television everyday from Monday to
Friday between 10 and 11pm EDT.
To see Keller on Fox Business Channel you will have to check with your
local cable listings. If you are using DirecTV it will be aired on channel
359
Bill is geared for his new show and so are many people who enjoy watching
him on the internet. Keller will no doubt stir controversies but he will
represent Christ in a learned, honest and insightful manner as he has on
all his broadcasts.
Bill says “" I am excited for this door the Lord has opened for us to
bring a Biblical perspective to the top stories of the day, as well as
help people going through the problems of life we all face like financial
problems, health issues, the death of someone we love, addictions, marital
strife, wayward children, employment challenges, and all of the rest of
the problems everyone faces in the course of living their lives."
Keller’s entire purpose and the way he places himself in the middle of the
secular world to present Christ is perhaps the best way to understand the
meaning of Romans 5: 20 “…But where sin abounded, grace did much more
abound.”
