Excuse Me Demercrats, The Government Is Next To Useless
By Malcolm Hedges (04/17/08)
Over and over you project the Government as the answer to every little personal issue? Sorry, the Government is a huge inefficient monolith that accomplishes nothing much but consumes some ~18% of the GDP.
I would grant portions of the Government actually manage to accidentally benefit the American people, however overall it is just a huge clusterf**k!
Much of the problem is exacerbated by unionization of the bureaucrats. So we have inefficient "workers" encouraged by unions to be less inefficient.
The Federal Government is due for a serious RIF (Reduction In Force). I would suggest a 50% reduction by virtue of an immediate total hiring freeze, elimination by attrition and a directed reduction of employees at 10% per year until the result was in fact a total of 50%. (Outsourcing to be credited at only 25% of reduction since outsourcing contracts by The Federal Government are usually ineffective and way over priced. )
This reduction should probably larger on a case by case basis, but given a chance the bureaucrats will twist the effort and effectively cause it to be a sham.
The only way to insure any measure of success is a flat 50% mandated RIF!
Try to get a $40.00 coupon for a HDTV tuner credit and observe our government at work :=)
Once the 50%RIF has been processed and in place for maybe three years it should be started again! So when the cycle is done the Federal monolith would be some 75% smaller and probably work better.
