Demercrats, Liberals and Progressives of all flavors want to eliminate the Electoral College.
For all practical purposes the Electoral College was built into the Republic to thwart political chaos via Democracy.
If the Electoral College was eliminated, it's possible if not probable that 4 or 5 "city states" could gather a simple majority for the election for President and elect that person over the objection of the other 45 or 46 states.
Liberal elitists think they deserve to control the lives of the seething masses of idiots that occupy "fly over country" and hate the fact that the Electoral College gives them a voice in the Presidential election.
All kinds of fabricated excuses are put forth but they all boil down to that basic desire.
Most anything that stands in the way of Progressive Socialist control of the USA is subject to their attacks alleging the policy is obsolete.
The Republic is 50 "United States", not 50 States subservient to 4 or 5 states! Besides those 4or 5 states would become ghost towns if the other 45 or 46 states didn't support them.
They have no clue....
