'Is It Time For The USA To Abandon The Two Party System?'
By Malcolm Hedges (05/04/08)
Most all the systems have been mangled to discourage of not actually impede more than two political parties.
The Demercrats and Republicrats currently refuse to represent the American people, so perhaps a really powerful shift to a third and/or 4th party is the way to go?
The most immediate effect would be available via the Presidential election. If no Presidential candidate garnered more than ~25% or ~33% of the electoral votes, the decision would be thrown to the House. (Rush has noted the Demercrats control the House, but the electoral rules for the House deciding the outcome are very unusual to say the least.)
Even if the Demercrats or Republicrats managed to wiggle their candidate into the Oval Office they would have a President that was rejected by from 66% to 75% of the voters!
As a sideline, such an upset of the two-party stranglehold on the Presidency would most probably upset the apple cart in the House and Senate and force them actually form alliances to manage to have even a simple majority much less the 60% majority needed to control the Senate.
Most states have erected walls to block 3rd or 4th party candidates from being on the ballot, but you can write in whoever you wish!
If Mr. Perot, Mr. Romney and a few other folks of means start a well financed and focused "Vote For America" media blitz, the Demercrat/Republicrat stranglehold on our country can be broken.
At this point in time, we may as well live in China or Russia because the two parties are just offering us a chance to pick our favorite Socialist for President.
The House and Senate races are pretty much the same sad picture.
The Demercrat and Republicrat power machines are pouring millions of dollars into this election, it's time for concerned Americans of means to move to actually effect a true "political change".
If you can find a DNC or RNC candidate for office that you honestly believe is pro-America then by all means support and vote for that candidate. If you can't, it's time to write in the candidate that you believe can represent the best interests of America and yourself.
General consensus among the political talking heads is that baring "unforeseen" voting results, in January 2009 the US Federal Government will become controlled by Leftist Progressive Demercrats and we will all be sacrificed in the name of their Marxist Socialist Utopian dream.
Voting results need to be changed! Otherwise, the deterioration our social and political fabric will be accelerated to the nth power.
So to answer my own question, I say "YES".
