Scouts Honor?

You would think the very last group in America to surrender to political correctness would be the Boy Scouts of America. Surely if any group knows all too well the persecution the practitioners of political correctness can bring it is the Boy Scouts.
So certainly common sense would dictate the Boy Scouts, who have not bent to the pressures to admit Gays into their ranks, would not willingly surrender anything to the control freaks on the far left.
Yet this is exactly what a Richmond area Boy Scout Camp is doing. Recently the executive board of the Robert E. Lee Council voted to drop the Southern hero’s name from both its name and logo.
The Council plans to adopt a new name by next year. “ The ballot box is open for any and all ideas” Scout executive Robert A. Tuggle said of the decision. Really? All ideas? Or just those not honoring Confederate heroes or other figures not considered to be “sensitive” or “ inclusive” enough to please the bigots on the left?
Tuggle also stated the Scouts wanted a new name, which would be “more geographically descriptive, so that when we market ourselves outside of this area-- people will know what part of the country we are in.”
Is this guy serious? There is no name with greater Southern connotation than the name of the south’s greatest hero, General Robert E. Lee. Tuggle’s statement is nothing but a cop out answer to criticism from Southern heritage groups over the decision to drop Lee’s name. And surely the Scouts are not foolish enough to believe that any Southern name will be accepted by the hypersensitive nuts of the politically correct.
The South and its heroes have long been the favorite targets of those perpetually offended left-wing types. No matter what name the camp garners for itself the PC brigades will attack it if it has a Southern name.
The Scouts must by now be very aware of the intentions of the leftists who raise offense at every turn. They wish to control everyone’s thoughts and actions. They want to set themselves up as the ultimate judges of what is and is not acceptable in America.
Certainly Lee is nowhere near acceptable by their ultra-left wing standards. He was White, which of course makes him a racist, oppressor of minorities everywhere; He was also a Southerner, which in the twisted minds of the politically correct makes him a bigot as well. And certainly Lee’s well-known faith in God makes him ultimately unfit as any type of role model according to the doctrine of the Liberal Elites.
The Scouts should be well apprised of how the politically correct see any person or symbol, which honors in any way the traditions and values of either the South or America itself. The Scouts have been besieged by the far left for years now because they refuse to admit Gays and dare to honor God in their pledge.
So how inane for this group now to choose to surrender to those same forces of intolerance? Perhaps the Scouts truly believe this move will placate those who have been hounding them? Perhaps the feel this move will attract more minorities to their ranks? Maybe they are thinking dropping Lee’s name will somehow make them seem more inclusive?
Whatever they are thinking clearly they need to think a whole lot harder. No person or group who has ever conceded anything to the political correctors, or attempted to reach a compromise with them, has ever succeeded in appeasing the politically correct.
Instead of being satisfied the political correctness Nazis simply push harder for more control and more power. Nearly twenty years ago, when political correctness was in its infancy most of us laughed at its absurdity. We all thought it would fade away like any other fad. Yet it has grown until today it frankly stands as the most dangerous threat to our liberty in this nation.
Think not? Then explain why groups like the Boy Scouts and politicians, and businesses are falling all over themselves to sacrifice their freedoms on the altar of political correctness. Explain why a few nuts, and be sure those who are pushing political correctness are few in number, have so intimidated so many? The PC brigades do not even have to raise a fuss any more.
Now this nation is censoring itself on our own. Soon we will all be unable to speak at all, lest we offend someone. At that point this will cease to be a free nation. It will simply be a nation of fear. Fear of offending, fear of being boycotted, fear of being labeled a racist or intolerant.
Is this the type of nation you want to live in? Do you want your children to grow up afraid of opening their mouths? Afraid of expressing any views? Are we willing to allow such a tragedy to strike our nation?
