Liberals Imagined Hardships!

Listening to a talk-radio show the other day I was amused at a caller who insisted that his views, which were very anti-war, were being censored by those who are supporting President Bush and his decision to make war on the evil of Saddam Hussein. The caller ranted and raved about how President Bush was destroying freedom of speech. Yet this caller was allowed to share his views, so how did he figure he was being silenced?
Time to break out the old crying towels for our Liberal friends. It seems the tears from the left are going to continue flowing for weeks to come.
And all this fuss is because of the loss of free speech Liberals are claiming they are being subjected to. This is not true, of course, it is merely more emotionalism and hyperbole from those left of reality types who always seem to be the victims of some imagined abuse.
This time it is the right to dissent Liberals are pretending is being lost. And as anyone with eyes and ears can tell, there is no shortage of dissent coming from the left. Yet they continue to whine about their freedom of speech being in danger from those darn evil Republicans.
This is of course just the latest example of Liberals inventing a crisis where none exists. The fact is one cannot pick up a paper without reading a few letters to the editor bemoaning this war. If there is such a crushing of opposing voices why are these letters printed?
In those same papers one can easily locate op-ed pieces criticizing the war with Iraq as well. Again if Liberals are the victims of censorship why are these columns being printed for tens of millions to read?
If there exists a campaign to squelch and punish dissent why are all these anti-war protests, many of them no more than anti-American hate rallies, being allowed.
Surely there is no shortage of loud-mouthed anti-war Hollywood types on TV is there? Seems Michael Moore, Arianna Huffington, Martin Sheen and the rest of the anti-war folks are constantly pouring forth their drivel. So where is this supposed suppression of dissent speech?
The cold hard fact is this my friends, there is no suppression of free speech or anti-war speech, or even anti-American speech going on. There never has been and likely never will be. The truth is that Liberals consider it a violation of their rights to criticize their views.
In the real world, where Conservatives live, the United States Constitution protects the right of everyone to speak freely. Conservatives realize the very same right we hold to offer forth our views is shared by those we disagree with.
Liberals of course do not live in the real world. Instead they live in a world where they have a right to say anything they wish but their political opponents do not. To a Liberal the right to speak your mind and express your views ends when they quit talking. Liberals think they should be able to speak without opposing voices.
To a devoted leftist criticizing their speech is equal to censoring it. This is absolutely absurd of course. The same freedom Liberals are using to rail against the war can be used by Conservatives to rail against those Liberals. But, of course, Liberals do not quite understand this fact. In their world, only they are fit to speak freely. The rest of us should not be given these same rights according to the far Left.
Consider the scourge of political correctness. This is no more than a broad-based campaign to crush any view except those held by the Liberal Elites. Liberals use words like sensitivity and inclusion and tolerance to intimidate their political opposites. They have created an atmosphere in much of America that punishes Conservative speech.
Say the wrong thing and you might lose your job or your reputation. While pretending to adore the First Amendment Liberals have done their level best to strangle it in not only the political and business world but on our college campuses as well.
College newspapers which dare to print politically incorrect columns or stories are often stolen and destroyed by those same Liberals who claim to be the staunchest defenders of free speech. Dr. Laura, Rush Limbaugh, and other Conservative voices are often the targets of smear campaigns and boycotts. These voices would very soon be silenced by the “tolerant” Left in America should these liberals achieve their goals.
So please, do not buy into this latest scam from war protesters about being the victims of censorship. If there were a campaign to silence them we would not be so inundated with their rantings every day.
As the caller to that radio show proved the Conservatives are all too happy to allow speech we find anti-American and offensive to be expressed. It is Liberals who, by their latest actions are proven time and again to be no friends of free speech. Unless of course they agree with it’s content that is.
