Hollywood Hatred
By Doug Hagin (03/17/03)
We, as a nation are on the brink of war. In fact by the time you read this we might actually be attacking the evil Saddam Hussein and beginning the process of bringing freedom to the Iraqi people.
Yet the voices against this war, particularly from Hollywood and the rest of the entertainment industry, are growing in volume and hatefulness.
Now the right for these folks to speak freely is not in doubt at all.
Dissent is a right, as is saying completely idiotic and inflammatory things. No one who supports this war will argue against the right for these entertainers to express their thoughts.
Yet as the people who actually pay these folks salaries we also have rights as consumers. Those rights do include knowing the hate-filled words and often times purely anti-American sentiments expressed by the entertainment elites.
There is another right we, as consumers have. The right to not buy albums, movie tickets, or watch TV shows featuring those who are so against our President and yes our military. So to help us realize exactly how far out of reality these folks are going let us review some of the ignorant and hate-filled remarks which some in the world of entertainment have chosen to make so publicly.
After reading these remarks it is in our hands, or more correctly in our wallets whether or not to support those who hate America and those who obviously think the people of Iraq do not deserve the chance to be a free people!
From Natalie Manes of the popular country band Dixie Chicks this nugget of wisdom. " Just so you know, we're ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas." Manes blurted this out during a concert in England recently. I guess these girls are forgetting how Conservative most fans of country music are. Album sales will likely remind her.
From Jennifer Aniston, a truly intellectually deep quote, showing just how well informed on world affairs she is. Speaking of President Bush the brilliant Aniston stated. "He's a (expletive) idiot!" Wow! Such in depth knowledge this actress shares with us. Think about her attitude the next time Friends comes on.
From Chrissie Hynde, the lead singer of the Pretenders this classic bit of hate. "Have we gone to war yet? We (expletive) deserve to get bombed. Bring it on." "Let's get rid of all the economic (expletive) this country represents! Bring it on, I hope the Muslims win!"
Well now not only is Ms. Hynde an obvious master of the English language but she apparently is eager to see Americans die in terrorist attacks. Despite the millions this second-rate talent has made in America she will be hoping we lose the war on terror. Can we say ungrateful snot?
From Mr. Harry Belafonte this nugget of bigotry and stupidity. Speaking of the Bush team Belafonte stated " I think they are men who are possessed of evil." And please remember the nasty remark made by Belafonte about Colin Powell. Of course since Belafonte has done absolutely nothing for years it will be a tad difficult to boycott his products.
From Peter Gabriel, who has made some truly great music this quote. "I think America has no experience with terrorism or even with war. In Europe we know a little more about these things." I guess Peter Gabriel forgot how the Second World War played out. It was America who saved Europe's collective behinds. And maybe this man forgot about 9-11? Or maybe he is just an arrogant jerk?
From Danny Glover, whom I used to respect. "Bush is a racist." Glover surely got this one from the tried and true Liberal playbook. When in doubt play the race card Danny.
From George Clooney this remark that shows his contempt for our military who are protecting his freedom while he hides in Hollywood. " I believe he thinks this {war against Iraq} can be won, but there is no such thing anymore... We can't beat anyone anymore." Tell you what Mr. Clooney, go say that to a marine and see what happens.
From Larry Hagman of Dallas fame. " Bush is a sad figure: not too well educated, who doesn't get out of America much. He is leading the country towards fascism... he wouldn't understand the word fascism anyway." So eloquent Mr. Hagman. You truly represent the level of intelligent thought among the socialist Left!
And finally from Jeaneanne Garofolo this twisted statement of what makes America great to her. "So when I see the American flag, I go Oh my God you' re insulting me. We're her we're queer! That's what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a Gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride."
Well let me stop there. The true feelings of the anti-American "peace" lovers are clear to see. And it is a very ugly picture.
