US Supreme Court Vs. The US Constitution

Read carefully the next few lines. They compose the preamble to the US Constitution. Allow them to sink in. Because I'm going to ask a question after you have read them.

Go ahead… read:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

OK, here comes the question: Why is the US Supreme Court extending the rights of US citizenship to foreigners… especially those terrorist we have locked up at Gitmo?

Recently the US Supreme Court found that foreign terrorism suspects, being held at Gitmo, have rights under the US Constitution to challenge their detention in US civilian courts. It was another of those infamous 5 – 4 decisions. They went on to say the system the Bush Administration set up to classify those terrorist suspects as "Enemy Combatants" and review those decisions is inadequate. On the other hand, the White House says those detainees have NO RIGHTS and says it's classification and review process is a sufficient substitute for hearings in civilian courts. I must tell you, THIS time I come down on the side of the White House!

Now go back to the Preamble. Do you see anything in those few words that would indicate that the rights granted under the US Constitution were for anybody OTHER THAN US CITIZENS? No you don't! Because it doesn't do that. The Rights of the US Constitution are for US Citizens ONLY!

Once again the Supreme Court has overstepped. Its decision to grant US constitutional rights to terrorists is not theirs to grant. The Constitution does not give them the power to do that. If fact it gives NO MAN the power to do that. The Court simply TOOK the power… again!

Granted the Preamble is NOT the Constitution… it is what I would refer to (as a broadcaster) as the "Introduction". It is a brief introductory statement of the fundamental purposes and guiding principles, which the Constitution is meant to serve. It expresses, in general terms, the intentions of its authors, and is sometimes referred to by courts as evidence of what the Founding Fathers thought the Constitution meant and what they hoped to achieve. Even the courts have cited the Preamble for evidence of the history, intent, and meaning of various other parts of the Constitution.

I don't know what the Court based their decision to grant Constitutional rights to those terrorists on, but it couldn't have been the US Constitution.

As I write this I sit less than three miles from the site of a former POW camp for German Prisoners of War during World War II. There were a toral of 425, 806 POW's locked up here in the States during WW II.

Presidents Roosevelt and Truman actually understood the fact that the US Constitution did not extend to POW's nor to anyone not a citizen of the US.

Under President Roosevelt six German prisoners were tried before a military commisiion and they were excuted in Washington, DC on August 8th, 1942.

President Truman had 14 German Prisoners tried by a military court and executed at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas in 1945.

It is imporant to note that not a single one of these enemy combatants (we called them POW's in those days) were allowed the rights of a US Citizen… and they certainly were not turned over to the civilain courts. By the way, there were thousands who were NOT executed and they remained in our POW prisons until the war was over.

So… let me ask you… have we decided that Presidents Roosevelt and Truman were war criminals? Of course they weren't! They were governing under the terms of the US Constitution, and… back then… we all knew the constitution was for American citizens… only!

As I view the country today, with the Moral Relativism, and Socialsim, and Marxism having eaten away at our core belief in what is fundamentally right and what is fundamentally wrong, and replaced it with the evil of "political correctness", I honestly believe that had the Germans and the Japaness waited until today to go to war against the United States, they would have cleaned our clock!

The prisoners we have today, at Gitmo, are not entitled to anything. I have no problem holding them, without a trial, until the Global War on Terror is completed… if ever, or until their deaths, whichever comes first.. Whatever it takes to keep your family, and mine, safe is fine by me.

Suck it up, America and act like men! There is no place in the world we live in today for a Namby-Pamby nation like the one we have become.
