The Upcoming Election Proves Division in America

The division in the US is getting wider instead of smaller. One party is for what it claims to be a right to abortion. One party tries everything it can to stop abortion. The quote from Jesus (Matt 10:34): “For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law…” Jesus said He came not to create harmony, but strife and division at times.
That time is upon us. The best way to change things is with a Supreme Court that can overturn laws. It’s almost a given that if the next president serves one 4-year term, he will likely appoint two SC justices. If the next president serves two terms, he will likely appoint at least 4 SC justices…and possibly as many as 6.
It’s known that Obama/Biden are very pro-abortion. They seem to have never met an abortion law they didn’t like. Obama voted FOR 13 out of 13 abortion bills. NARAL and Planned Parenthood gives them both a 100% rating. McCain/Palin are very pro-life. They are likely to appoint pro-life justices like Scalia and Alito, and have a 0% rating from NARAL and Planned Parenthood. History confirms that all newly appointed judges will serve an average of 23 years on the SC. Six of nine of the Justices are 70 years or older. Almost as importantly, the president appoints hundreds of lower court judges during the course of four to eight years.
If one’s biggest concern is abortion, one’s vote is a complete “no-brainer”. Most have to understand that life is THE most important issue. If there’s no life, there’s no need to worry about war, even when terrorists force Americans to die. You’re dead anyway. You’ve been aborted. Then racism is a non-issue because you’re dead and cannot be racist. If there’s no life, anthropogenic global warming, taxes, Universal Healthcare, gas prices, and all other issues…are totally moot. You’ve been aborted, so you could care less about any one. Even telling a lie is intrinsically evil (all the time). So is rape. They are not equally grave, however.
Bishop Charles Chaput [sha pō] of Denver says: “The right to life is foundational. Every other right depends upon it.” Since the 1st century, the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. One of the crucial items that set nearly all Christians apart from the pagan culture around them was their rejection of abortion and infanticide.
Pelosi (Speaker), a self-acclaimed Catholic herself, recently denied that the Catholic Church condemns abortion. She said the Church’s position is only recent, and they really don’t know when life starts. Pelosi and Biden have evidently never read (Catechism of the Catholic Church) CCC # 2270-2271. Obama recently said the question of when a baby receives human rights is beyond his “pay grade”. His decisions have put him in that “pay grade”.
An applicable common sense axiom tells us that if someone is hunting and doesn’t know whether what’s moving behind the bush is a bear or a man, he should refrain from shooting until he is sure.
It’s also possible that the Catholic voter might abstain from voting. Abstention would be a serious abdication of the Catholic voter’s civic and moral obligation to vote. The CCC (#2240) states: “Submission to authority and co-responsibility for the common good make it morally obligatory…to exercise the right to vote.” It may not be egregious, but a sin of omission is still a sin and we are still responsible for the results.
This election is close enough where a non-vote could put the other candidate over the top. Since when are elections supposed to make us comfortable? People fought and died to give us the right to vote and our choices are never exactly perfect.
All issues have a particular hierarchy, and if you’re an American the most important one is life. In fact, that’s exactly what the Declaration meant when it said we all have the inalienable right to life.
Bottom line, one will have to live with the killing of at least 1.3 million babies for the 1st year if the Obama team is elected. For four years, that’ll be at least 5.2 million. If he’s re-elected, that’s almost a guaranteed 10.4 million deaths. Can a human brain actually live with responsibility for that many deaths?
Catholic voters should vote as they wish, because no bishop will be in the booth watching them. But if one’s political beliefs lead that person to reject known religious and moral teachings of the Church, go in peace.
What the bishops are saying is: You’re already gone.
