Lettuce Examine 'Public Service'
By Malcolm Hedges (09/12/08)
Last nights 'forum' with McCain and Obama was targeted at 'Public Service'. It was for all practical purposes so much Socialist pap designed and hosted by Socialists.
In modern political terminology "Public Service" pretty much refers to pseudo government or governmental feel good volunteer programs that may or may not offer monetary rewards for participation.
The "Peace Corps" and myriad variations are what is the norm. These operations are saturated with people that can't manage to become employed or have no interest in becoming employed.
Obviously some portion of these programs provide some benefit or value to society and the target "problem". Mostly it's just feel good BS with political agendas.
Joining the Military is NOT Public Service, it is a career choice, patriotic choice or a personal rewards choice!
Most all politicians claim to be "serving in the public service", few have a clue about the "public" and most are just elitists serving their own quest for influence and power.
"Community Organizer" is a PC term for "Political Organizer". A "Community Facilitator" could be an individual that actually tried to work to try to address specific issues of a community regards crime, education and such considerations, without pushing a particular political agenda.
Being a bureaucrat is NOT public service! It is a Career Choice, perhaps influenced by political objectives.
So now that the field has been cleared, what is this mysterious "Public Service"?
It's a puzzle, but I will take a shot.
Let's move forward with a premise that true "Public Service" is politically benign.
Disaster relief for all practical purposes is the only real "Public Service" that has not been totally infected by political hacks.
NOTE: Certain factions of "Disaster Relief" are political operations, so do your proper investigations before supporting or volunteering.
Good candidates for consideration are groups or organizations that provide specific assistance to seniors and appropriate folks in need of educational support.
Not much left to consider thanks to the political machines....
