My thoughts -
John Longenecker specializes in study of the 2nd Amendment and how it is treated in our society. This is a real treasure and definitively a handbook for non-gun owners.
Very simply, people denied of the right to legal self-protection are being put at risk and victimized by companies, governments and schools.
Criminals don't obey gun laws and they thrive in areas that prohibit qualified citizens from having or carrying them!
Police have little power to prevent crime, they just try to react often after long delays from notification time.
Disarming citizens is often a precursor to a government creating a "Police State" and establishing a totalitarian regime...
