The Obama Effect? Spare change
By Bonnie Chernin Rogoff (11/06/08)
“It will be one of those rare moments where people will always remember where they were.” - (Commentary by Wolf Blitzer, Host, CNN Situation Room) - The last time I heard that line was when the World Trade Center came crashing to the ground on September 11, 2001. No doubt Wolf and the CNN pack were referring to the fact that this is an historic moment because we now have the first black president. Let’s not forget that Barack Obama is half-white. Let’s not forget that If Obama were a pro-life Republican, like the brilliant Dr. Alan Keyes, African-Americans in this country would be calling him an “Uncle Tom.”
What struck me as odd were the faces in the CNN newsroom. After the results came in proclaiming Obama the winner, the somber, dour expressions on the faces of the panel were curious. This was a large pick-up for Democrats, with majorities in both Houses of Congress. Could it be the mainstream media needs strong doses of Valium because when the next major terrorist attack occurs they won’t have the GOP to blame?
Exit polls are interesting too. Obama has contempt for the Jews and Israel. Without access to the L.A. Times video, the visuals were hidden but the story was reported. Nevertheless, nearly 80% of the Jewish vote went to the most anti-Israel candidate in history. That’s a higher percentage than John Kerry received. The single liberal women also brought Obama over the top, 70% of whom voted for him. I’ve always said the 19th Amendment was a mistake, because most liberal women are brain dead and this election proves it. Young people and college kids voting for the first time came out in droves for Obama. So much for spending taxpayer money on public education.
The only thing more painful than listening to Obama’s bogus “reaching out” acceptance speech was listening to John McCain apologizing for losing and glorifying Obama. McCain’s debates were limp and lifeless. He acted like a loser and so he lost. Gov. Sarah Palin was suddenly exonerated of all guilt in “Troopergate” the night before the election. How convenient.
Our own “conservative” media has been a failure. Except for Michael Savage, who is the lone true conservative voice in the wilderness, what good have they done? Sen. Chuck Schumer, the devil-incarnate of New York, had the nerve to compare conservative talk radio to pornography. Reality check up-Chuck, we don’t need a “Fairness Doctrine” to tame conservative talk radio – we’ve got one already. Am I missing something, or didn’t the Democrats take the Congress despite Rush Limbaugh’s massive audience? As I write this, Sean Hannity is congratulating Obama on his show, adopting a conciliatory tone. It sounds like Hannity is reaching out. The Fairness Doctrine has begun.
The past 14 years were squandered by the GOP. The reason they lost? Moderates. They were all rubbed out in the Northeast last night. Exit polls reveal that two of ten people who identified themselves as conservatives broke for Obama. The respondents could be lying, but what if it’s true? What if our base just committed a protest vote against McCain? Will the Republicans finally clean up their house and return to their roots, or will they – as Rush Limbaugh aptly put it – make nice to Obama? They’d better not, because Democrats won’t make nice to them. It’s time they change their party symbol from donkey to bull.
There is some positive news. Senator Norm Coleman appears to retain his seat in Minnesota. The sweaty-faced loud-mouthed bloated moron called Al Franken is getting a recount. It really says a lot when a guy with an I.Q. of less than 6 and whose biggest contribution to American Life is a novel called “Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot” could run for the Senate. It was the vile Sen. Chuck Schumer who raised money for Franken.
On the ballot initiatives, in three states gay marriage lost. Affirmative action was banned in Nebraska. Unfortunately, some pro-life measures also lost, including a parental notification law in California. Assisted suicide was approved in the Washington State. Michael Schiavo is celebrating.
As for Obama’s speech, I heard the words “somber” and “presidential” and the “heavy burden” he would bear as president, giving one the impression that he will have to modify his radical communist background and reach out to others. Not a chance. With a significant Democrat majority in both Houses Obama’s power won’t be challenged. He will mete out harsh penalties against any person or group that disagrees with his agenda. New regulations will be set against religious conservatives, particularly pro-lifers. There will be heavy fines and jail time for anyone praying at abortion mills. The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) will return, and pro-lifers will be subject to bubble zones. The dangerous Freedom of Choice Act will be passed. After Obama’s inauguration, Supreme Court Justice Paul Stevens will retire. Watch for a Hillary nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court; I’m sure that’s the quid pro quo for her support.
The irony is, the so-called “civil rights” candidate will gladly suppress the civil rights of his opponents and set the stage for the very chaos liberal Democrats abhor. Strip away the rights of pro-lifers to protest, deny the right to religious expression, reach out to Hamas ushering in more homicide bombings against innocent Israelis and there will be plenty of confrontations. It won’t be pretty.
By the way, the Dow closed down today nearly 500 points. I guess the Obama Effect hasn’t hit Wall Street yet.
Obama talked about assuming power with a “measure of humility” and wanting to “heal the divides.” Here’s my challenge: Obama, prove you’re serious when you say change is coming. You really want to reach out to those who didn’t vote for you? Throw full support behind Israel, put strong sanctions against Iran, cut ties to all Palestinian terrorist groups, fight for an undivided Jerusalem with Israeli control, allow off-shore drilling and in ANWR, sign a Human Life Amendment that reverses 35 years of the slaughter of unborn children, oppose infanticide, nominate conservative pro-life judges, end assisted suicide and euthanasia in America, oppose gay marriage, push for and sign legislation that would allow school vouchers, allow creationism to be taught alongside evolution, and admit to the American people the real reason you won’t produce a valid U.S. birth certificate.
Then, maybe we can talk. Until then, it’s all just spare change.
