Banging my head against the Stonewall
By Bonnie Chernin Rogoff (11/10/08)
At least we now know what Obama meant when he said he’d heal the divides in America. He got off to a great start. He’s not in office a week and already the closets are empty and the blogs are full of hate. We can relax now, because Obama has kept his campaign promise.
It didn’t help that his very first appointment was the odious Rep. Rahm Emanuel to be his Chief of Staff. Here’ s a guy who’s never seen an abortion he didn’t love. Or a Republican he didn’t despise.
Emanuel’s views are horrendous. Murder babies ready to be born by partial birth abortion. If the abortion is unsuccessful and the baby survives, kill the infant as it lies helpless on the table. Ban all parental notification laws but pass laws to ban teen smoking (smoking, you see, is more dangerous than abortion). Force Americans to pay for abortions on military bases. Provide funds for forced abortions in China. Allow human cloning.
This is a guy who stabs tables with steak knives when he’s furious at political enemies, shouts out the names of Democrats who didn’t support Bill Clinton and screams “DEAD!” after each name. One who mailed a dead fish to a Republican. Decomposing fish, steak knives…it seems the new Chief of Staff has a penchant for merging his rage with dead animals. This is an example of Obama’s unity. I hope he watches out for those flying knives.
With such a big electoral win for Obama, you’d think the most radical Democrats would at least try to get into the partying mood. No such luck.
On Election night, conservatism won on gay marriage. It was voted down once again when Proposition 8 was defeated. Well, that really did it for the kinder, gentler homosexuals. They came out to post on websites called “Queerty”, “Americablog” and on some dingbat’s blog called “JoeMyGod blogspot”. I don’t know who runs this blog but G-d has nothing to do with it. Some of the posts are so disgusting I wouldn’t read them to a dead fish – even if it were mailed to a Democrat. The gays are very unhappy with Christians who voted for the ban. Here are portions of some of the posts:
“Burn their f---king churches to the ground, and then tax the charred timbers.”
“I hope the No on 8 people have a long list and long knives.”
“I swear, I’d murder people with my bare hands this morning.”
“Can someone in CA please go burn down the Mormon temples there. I mean seriously. DO IT.”
“I’m going to give them something to be f---king scared of…I’m a radical who is now on a mission to make them all pay for what they’ve done.”
“Trust me. I’ve got a big list of names of mormons and catholics that were big supporters of Prop 8…As far as mormons and catholics…I warn them to watch their backs.”
“If you’re planning a heterosexual wedding in California…be prepared for picketers. Add $500 to your budge for security…”
Guess what would happen if these types of threats appeared on pro-life blogs advocating the murder of abortionists?
In 1969, a raid took place at a bar called the Stonewall Inn, in Greenwich Village. It was a Mafia owned bar back then frequented by homosexuals in the area. The raid occurred on the same night as Judy Garland’s funeral, whose death seemed to mobilize the gays to get reactionary against the police. For some bizarre reason Garland is a homosexual icon. Gay folks claim Garland’s personal suffering, pill addictions and other personal tragedies mirrors the struggles in their own lives. In that case, why not choose Marilyn Monroe as an icon? Didn’t she suffer similar problems and an equally unhappy end?
Anyway, when the police arrested two drag queens it did not go over well with the Stonewall patrons and the riots began. The melee lasted several days and drew crowds and national media attention. This was the beginning of “gay pride” in America, gay marches, and the national homosexual movement with more demands for what they claim are “civil rights” such as marriage, adoption, and public school programs that teach homosexual history along with all other subjects.
The problem is they seek not civil, but special rights. Gay activists perpetuate the idea of permanent victimhood and persecution despite the tremendous strides they’ve made since Stonewall. There is a world of difference between groups that seek chronic victimhood from those that seek true freedom. The former will never be satisfied with civil liberties. Unless every citizen of the United States loves, honors, accepts and promotes every aspect of the homosexual lifestyle that person is written off as a homophobe. Civil rights historically have referred to the right to vote, fair housing and employment. All of these, gays have. They want to subvert and change the Constitution but they do not want to change their status as victims.
As a Jew, I know firsthand what discrimination is. Six million people of my faith perished in the Holocaust. Yet in America, there are thousands of neo-Nazis who still worship Hitler, deny the fact that the Holocaust happened, and they teach it to their children. I’ve received many of their “love” letters at my website, Jews For Life.
There are clubs I don’t feel comfortable joining and neighborhoods I’d probably feel uneasy living in. There is still anti-Semitism. For every Matthew Shepard there is a victim of race or religious hatred and there always will be. You just don’t read about them in every newspaper in America. When Jesse Dirkhising was murdered, the gay lobby and the world went silent. As of this writing, there are only 7,930 hits on Google for Jesse Dirkhising, but 642,000 hits for Matthew Shepard. And as we found out in this last election season, there was plenty of hatred to go around toward governors, whether they were Mormon or former beauty pageant contestants.
I am not happy about the realities of life but I don’t get in the face of every person and demand their approval, or else. In America, good Christians have fought on behalf of Jews and it is the Christians who have helped protect and defend Israel. There may be some who call themselves Christians but don’t like Jews. So what? Furthermore, if it weren’t for Christian Americans, I’ll remind gays they would not have all the freedoms and civil rights they enjoy. That’s why it infuriates me to see such sick garbage appearing on blogs in the name of “gay rights.”
Religious people have the right to their own agenda, too. The Bible states rather emphatically that homosexuality a sin (which has nothing to do with “homophobia” or hating people who identify themselves as gay). However, if private clubs such as the Boy Scouts or the Hibernians do not want what gays refer to as “queeny displays” in their groups or parades, they should have that privilege. Nobody stops gays from marching as Americans or joining groups as Americans.
Gays do not lack admiration from others for their achievements, but they do suffer from an obsessive disorder over homophobia. As a group and a movement, their leadership suffers from a pervasive sense of low self-esteem. It’s time they got over it.
