'Editorial: Status Of Forces In Irag Means Sharia Law For Our Troops?'

Every bureaucratic idiot that endorsed this scheme should be forced to serve in Iraq and face the consequences!
I served under "Status Of Forces" in Korea and the Netherlands(Holland) some several zillion years ago. (60's to early 70's)
Basically it means that all American forces are subject to local law when not on an official military assignment. (And sometimes when)
Korea was a bit iffy, but not oppressive. (We had saved them from the Chinese Communists).
Holland (The Netherlands) actually appreciated our helping them escape from NAZI oppression and were generally friendly to Military forces stationed there. Some several total mush-minds disappeared into the Dutch police system because of their own stupid actions, generally the Dutch were very accommodating even though they had total power over non-citizens.
Iraq and any most other "middle east" country is a different story. They generally subscribe to enforcing the ancient radical repressive totalitarian Islamic "Sharia" law.
Radical Islamic "Sharia" law does NOT mix with Americans or Europeans, most everything they believe in is contrary to "Sharia" law and often declared as punishable by death.
If Iraq insists on a "Status Of Forces" subjecting rescuing forces to "Sharia" law, we should just blow up all of our installations and stuff and LEAVE!
