Lettuce Consider The Big 3 Automaker Issue
By Malcolm Hedges (12/08/08)
The Detroit Iron Machine is pretty much toast unless big issues get fixed promptly.
The main problems are Congress, Quality and Unions, they are all pretty much intertwined.
The Socialist inspired Unions demand pay for presence and decry pay for performance. Quality suffers!
Quality and Test are considered "overhead" expenses by many American companies and the The Big 3 Automakers have adopted that position since time began.
In recent years, I have purchased Big 3 products that had wrong major components installed and significant assembly issues.
Some Big 3 Automakers also like to "fake" features, things like "meters'" that really are "disguised idiot lights"?
Quality issues created by workers can't just be blamed on the workers, they must be corrected by management to keep the product(s ) up to snuff.
Quality includes Assembly, Construction, Design, Image, Reliability and Workmanship.
I have a mid-line "Luxury" American Car that was offered with crap wheels while the "non-Luxury" clone had great mag wheels? (Ford Product)
I have a Pickup that is great, but the wheels provided are again crap? (GM product).
When an automobile manufacturer will only offer a warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, it announces they have little faith in their quality.
Congress demands and mandates that The Big 3 Automakers ignore the market and build vehicles that are unwanted and useless. Those models are also unprofitable out of the gate.
Another significant issue with The Big 3 Automakers is the fact that they are managed and staffed with ignorant mush-minds turned out by our perverted "edukshun" system.
The Big 3 Automakers need to go into Chapter 11and figure out how to save their bastardized monstrosities.
