“Bring It On . . . Now, Take It Back!”
By Debbie Daniel (03/21/04)
How many times did we hear “BRING IT ON?” It became Mr. Kerry’s primary campaign mantra, with his followers bellowing: “BRING . . . IT . . . ON.” It was the perfect picture of the playground bully forcing the other kid out onto the playground to fight. In essence: “Come on out here you little weasel and show us your stuff.”
In fact, the media aided and abetted this “calling out of the president” – did they want to see a fight? Hmm? Certainly they did or they wouldn’t have played the sound bite over and over. They, too, wanted to see Bush come out and defend himself from the bully on the playground . . . anything for a good news story.
Kerry’s been name-calling for at least the past four months, throwing whatever dirt he could find on George W. Bush, and when someone picked up one of his mud pies and threw it back, he became indignant and called anyone connected with Bush “the most crooked, lying group he’s ever seen.”
The point I’m trying to make is: He can throw the dirt; just don’t throw it back. He can’t handle it. Oh, he can be a great Viet Nam warrior; be awarded medals, but if it gets too hot in the political kitchen, he just has a “hissy fit.” Bless his heart, would someone tender his wounds?
If someone stood outside my window and called me: “Stubborn, irresponsible, a bungler, a liar, deceiver, and a failure every single day, I’d be out with a shotgun. There’s not a human being alive that would put up with that.
Kerry felt very confident to keep hammering this mantra, using all kinds of expletives (i.e. Rolling Stone magazine – “The president f*****u* in Iraq”) – in describing either this president directly or his administration. He’s tried to totally eviscerate him from being very effective. Now that’s a real statesman, isn’t it?
But Mr. Kerry, you knew it was too early in the campaign process for the president to respond to your childish outbursts, yet you continued, knowing this strategy would be in your favor.
“Bring-it-on, bring-it-on, bring-it-on,” sounded like a cattle rustler calling the sheriff out onto the street for a showdown . . . “Come on out and get me if you think you’re big enough, Sheriff.”
Goodness, this was such a taunting tactic that I was thrilled when the president finally slipped into his boots, strapped on his guns, and stepped out to see what all the “Kerry Kommotion” was about.
But what happens next is the best part of this whole “Kerry Kabal.”
The President of the United States came out, ready to respond to Mr. Kerry – “bringing it on” – with both barrels loaded, and now we hear the “clamoring cries” from the Kerry camp: “Take it back, you’re hurting our boy . . . you’re not playing fair – you’re making him look bad. The “Lean, Mean Republican Attack Machine” is after Johnny – why do those rascally Republicans have to be so negative? You must show respect to Mr. Kerry, why he’s a decorated Viet Nam hero.”
And on and on they drone.
Actually, we need to send John Kerry back to Viet Nam – he’s forgotten how to be a soldier. A real soldier shows respect to the Commander-in-Chief, but he’s NEVER done that, so why should he start now?
He’s ALWAYS had a better idea. But you have to stay tuned-in, because his better idea changes every fifteen minutes. He says he has a better success formula. Do we believe it just because he says so?
What success formula or better idea would he implement – the idea he gave yesterday or the one he’s going to give tomorrow?
Mr. Bush had no choice but to come out forcefully and discredit all the Kerry tongue-lashing and invective that’s been thrown around so freely. The president didn’t retaliate and “rain on Mr. Kerry’s primary parade” – but now he must. The record has to be set straight – you can’t continue listening to a “gnawing agitator” out there trying to bully his way to the White House.
Kerry was fine as long as he could bash Bush and there was no response. But let George W. have a microphone, and Johnny-boy falls apart.
And then the media decides to get in on the sparring and announces: “The president came out too early with his campaign message. This has never been done before. And why is Bush so negative?”
Oh, don’t you just love this innocent approach? The media responds, “Why, we don’t understand what the president is doing starting so early – could he be afraid?” Susan Estrich, a Fox News commentator said, “It’s March, the White House is running scared.”
Scream and holler for the president to come out and fight, and then when he does, call him scared. Aren’t those wonderful liberal talking points? They’ve learned them all so well.
Well, after you get up off the floor, doubled over with laughter, you will soon see the reality of this campaign posturing on the part of the Democrats AND the Media. It’s for real – they’re bloodthirsty and they’ll stop at nothing.
With Kerry – it’s all about him. With Bush – it’s all about America.
I’ve asked myself over and over, do Democrats really “hate” Bush, or do they resent the “love” we have for this man. Do they resent the fact that we pray for him daily?
Though some Republicans may not agree with George W. on every issue, there is still a deep and abiding love and respect for this president. And that just “irks” liberals. They don’t understand that kind of compassion for another human being, especially a politician. But it’s true. Those in the Bush camp absolutely believe he’s God’s appointed man.
I do not believe the Democrats feel the same about their candidate who has become “IT” only by a process of elimination. If John Kerry loses, he’ll be thrown out to pasture – just like Al Gore. You either beat the Republicans or you’re nothing.
I know you Democrats have to “snuff-out” George Bush to make yourselves look good, but every time you do, it’s just another slap in the face to Americans who love this country. And John Kerry has done nothing but “air dirty laundry” for the past six months, and yes, I’m sure foreign leaders love it. No doubt they want him to be president – he doesn’t believe America should be a super power; it’s as if he wants to apologize for our strength – we need to tone it down. All he’s done is run this country into the ground.
We can always depend on President Bush to say good things about the United States, and it makes us feel proud as a nation. He believes in us as a people . . . it’s a campaign for America! What a prince of a man!
So, Mr. Kerry, he brought it on, and no, he’s not going to take it back.
You asked for it – you got it!
