More Statues Need To Come Down!
By Jim E. Reames (05/05/03)
Does Western Civilization have huge statues just as hideous as the ones we saw being pulled down in Iraq? My take on this is “Yes” we do. In fact, I consider them to be far more hideous and even more of a threat to the United States than was the murderous regime of Saddam Hussein, more dangerous in fact than the threat of nuclear conflict with North Korea. But before going into detail as to where they exist and precisely why I consider these statues to be more hideous and more dangerous it is, first, necessary to glance back a few years.
For the Baby Boomer Generation it all formally started at a place called Sproul Plaza, the centerpiece of the University of California at Berkeley, birthplace of the free speech movement, led by Cal’s graduate student revolutionaries. In the 1960s their public outcry soon caught front-page headlines, “God is Dead!”
The message of that period was a simple one. “If it feels good, do it!” Bras were burned in the streets along with draft cards; and birth of the liberal left was witnessed. Then Earth Day arrived on April 22nd, on the birthday of Vladimir Linen. This was no mistake because the major theme of communism is the State becomes god where all rules of right, of wrong, of things defined moral or immoral becomes the role of the state. Under communist rule all things and all people exist in order to serve the state, i.e. the wisdom of man vs. the wisdom of God. Under communism, like any dictatorial police state, there are huge statues, larger than life sized portraits, and constant “in your face” reminders of who is in control.
Let there be no misunderstandings about the term “Politically Correct.” The bottom line of PC is this: It is a form of communist rule, over a people and over nations. Keep in mind that under communist rule there is no room or toleration for basic faith. There is no room for trust in God. The state has power over everything and over every one. That’s precisely what PC is all about, a world without God. It is a world in which, in the hearts of mankind, “God is dead!” straight from the heart of intellectual leadership.
From Berkeley, so, too, came along the now famous Peace Symbol, that which resembles an upside down and broken cross. After that Hollywood came out with a movie called “MASH,” one of the first New Age icons that trashed both our military and God. It glorified the act of suicide that, like abortion, is an abomination in the eyes of God. This New Age trend…on a “God is Dead” stage…then conceived many smaller movements and institutions that are now icons of social engineering of things Politically Correct.
From Earth Day came many splinter movements to protect our environment, and from that the movement to protect the rights of animals. Spinning from this came birth of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) and other armed militants.
From the bra burning activities came woman’s liberation, free sex and institutions like the National Organization of Woman. It was all fuel for a fire that evolved to become Ninth Circuit Court mentality and a “God is Dead” view of the world that has propagated extreme, never ending, progressive separation of church and state jurisprudence parallel with progressive energetic gun control. These are the minds that have orchestrated the many changes in the American way of life, re-written our values, and are now marching foreword with a United Nations agenda. The reason why gun control is so almighty important to the Democratic Party is because it is hard and even dangerous to super-tax the owners of privately owned guns. If we Americans can ever be disarmed then we will be easier to control and be dictated to. It’s that simple. From these minds now comes the decision to make tomorrow’s public school textbooks politically correct, minus pictures of certain foods, and deleting all reference to our “Founding Fathers” and also even the censorship of pictures of Mt. Rushmore.
From Berkeley three false idols were erected to rule the land:
When it was loudly proclaimed, “God is dead” those who claimed so were left with only had three idols to worship. The first, “Lust of the flesh” was erected tall and large, quickly followed by “The Pride of Life” and later on in their lives “The love of money.” In short order the New Age movement became precisely likened to those they professed to hate and abhor.
What many conservatives have come to understand is that the three big idols have erected many smaller ones, each of which has its own name, its own power. They are idols named:
Political Correctness;
Alternative life styles;
Freedom of Choice for abortions;
animal rights;
environmental movements;
Gender confusion;
Diversity;
and gun control.
These statues, or philosophical icons, are quick to remind us all of one thing. Who ever refuses to bow down and worship at their feet will surly die. A perfect example was the attacks made against Senator Trent Lott, which were used to destroy his political carrier. These idols are making similar attacks aimed at Senator Rick Santorum. But if you are favored by these idols (if you are politically correct) then your remarks go unheard, your actions overlooked.
None of these idols promote the worship of God:
One of my observations is that no matter who draws close to the big three, be they conservatives or liberals, the outcome is always the same. There is severance between the big three and God because these three always oppose truth and justice. Take for example, the political movement referred to as “Environmentalism.” The main thrust of environmentalism isn’t the worship of God who created this Earth and our atmosphere…our trees, flowers, and everything else created…but rather that which was created. This opened the door for the followers of these three idols to fall into the trap that is described in the first chapter of the Book of Romans, where those who worship the created and not the Creator fall into sins of the flesh, from which comes disease, destruction, the lose of common sense, and eventual death.
Henceforth are also the two idols, “Lust of the flesh” and the “Pride of life” before which stands the smaller idol, “Alternative life styles,” in front of which politicians and men of the cloth now flea. Politicians and the clergy alike are deeply afraid to stare these beasts in the eyes. But none of this is new because the term New Age is a title to old mistakes.
The original Greek word ei[dwlon (translated, Eidolon and pronounced
i'-do-lon ) has the meaning of:
1. an image, likeness
a. i.e. whatever represents the form of an object, either real or imaginary
b. used of the shades of the departed, apparitions, spectres, phantoms of the mind, etc.
2. the image of an heathen god
3. a false god
The original Greek word eijkwvn (translated, Eikon and pronounced i-kone' has the meaning of:
1. an image, figure, likeness
a. an image of the things (the heavenly things)
1. used of the moral likeness of renewed men to God
2. the image of the Son of God, into which true Christians are transformed, is likeness not only to the heavenly body, but also to the most holy and blessed state of mind, which Christ possesses
b. the image of one
1. one in whom the likeness of any one is seen
2. applied to man on account of his power of command
3. to Christ on account of his divine nature and absolute moral excellence
It is from the above two translations that we have the words Idol and Icon. And their original meanings reveal a very strong---almost liner--correlation between the statues of brutal dictators with that of modern media. I’m comparing our modern day media (the daily news, the Hollywood left, our music, even the articles that appear in our magazines and certain voices out of the Democratic Party) to the huge statues of Saddam Hussein, North Korea’s Kim Jong II, portraits of Adolph Hitler, and statues of Joseph Stalin.
Remember: Idols always use in your face gestures:
These dictators always use the statues and portraits as “in your face” communication of who and what is in control, sort of like the Dixie Chicks exhibited themselves semi-nude on the cover of a magazine, their message “in our face” loud and clear of where they stand.
Because she understands the role of false idols, the Hollywood actress Madonna has made herself rich and famous by becoming an idol worshiper of all three of the big ones. So, too, have Bill and Hillary Clinton. As has Mike Farrell and the Hollywood insiders club. In fact, there is a very large contingent of communist sympathizers who hold U. S. citizenship, people like the U. S. singer Harry Belafonte and U. S. actor Danny Glover who recently signed a two paragraph declaration that reads, in part, “A single power is inflicting grave damages to the norms understanding, debate and mediation among countries,” that declaration says, referring to the United States and in public support of Cuba’s dictator Fidel Castro. Doing so, they joined the ranks of several Nobel Peace Prize holders who also publicly embrace Castro.
The United Nations exhibited an “in your face” gesture of power by offering Fidel Castro a seat on its own Human Rights Committee.
We see this “in your face” gesturing from every aspect of today’s modern media, be it from one-liner innuendos made on sitcoms to glorify alternative lifestyles, to comments made that slam Christian values and the American family. Daily televised programs like Judge Judy provides the infinite parade of low-witted, uneducated, gutter trash as if to suggest they represent all Americans.
According to the Magazine Reefer Madness we Americans spend more money on illegal drugs than on tobacco. And despite official disapproval of pornography, the U. S. leads the world in the export of explicit sex videos. Combined, marijuana and pornography is said to represent about 10% of the American economy.
Are Republicans Exempt?
Since this is not a partisan issue Republicans are not exempt. America’s new wave of patriotism may end up becoming our worst enemy because we may discover ourselves just as willing to bow down to “The Pride of Life.” As news continues to come in from Iraq there are conservative reporters who gloat just how wrong the liberals were. Notice, if you will, how New Age movements (Republicans and Democrats alike) tend to call upon the State for its power and justification.
Never do the big three ever suggest turrning to the Bible for advice.
They never suggestion personal prayer on bent kney, before God.
Instead, they suggest the passage of more laws and regulations. From the big three there always comes more government…more taxation…gradually, and relentlessly, in the direction of progressive state control. It is what Hillary Clinton and most Democrats reek of, their nostrils filed with the incense of humanism.
Let there be no misunderstanding of what is truly occurring before our very eyes at this time in history. Those who helped to erect the big three idols are strong. They are dangerous, upon the battlefield labeled Direct Confrontation. In my 1992 novel, “Valley of the Dry Bones” I called this movement DC, International. This is as much of a spiritual fight as it is a political one, with Democrats poised to take on Republicans, in and for the hearts of man. At stake are the very values upon which this nation gave birth. The true danger of the Ninth Circuit Court and the United States Supreme Court is it possesses the power to turn off the illumination of God from the very pages of our Constitution. When and if that day arrives America will be no different than any other worldly state, a Godless state, like a Godless France and a godless Europe, drawing closer under the rule of a godless UN. Is that what we Americans really want? Is it no small wonder that the big three have strong footing in states like New York and California, where the votes of just a few states out number the votes of many smaller states?
So comes the big question: Is God dead? In the hearts of many, I fear that he is…even among many conservatives. For across the land “Lust of the flesh, The pride of life, and Our love of money” are three idols who breath fire from the gates of Hell. What we Americans need to ask ourselves is do we truly love God with all our hearts and souls? Or do we love this putrid crime-infested world just a little more? Since the 1960s we have worshipped sex and violence in our movie theaters and on television. So why should we become alarmed when pre-teens now take guns to school, where they kill their teachers and their peers? We worship materialism and financial power. So why are we surprised when we witness street crimes and violence? With our dollars we have voted for pornography. So why are we surprised when innocent girls get kidnapped from the security of their bedrooms, through knife-sliced screens?
Because we are guilty of worshipping at the feet of these three hideous idols Western Civilization has slept with satanic queens beneath the immunization of rainbows. When we started worshiping the many things that are created instead of the Creator this nation threw away common sense. Justice was denied.
If we Americans ever expect to witness a true homeland defense that works then Western Civilization needs to tare down some very large icons and idols, the sooner the better. To do so will take men and women of fiber, courage, and faith. If this sounds familiar we Americans need to take a good long and hard look at the Old Testament book of First Samuel. We need to read and to see where the country of Israel went, after its people stopped trusting in God.
We need only look at the putrid human waste of Twenty-First Century lifestyles to draw a common sense judgment that liberalism is a lie. Look at the mess California is in. Look at the indebtedness of most all other American states. Look at the down-dumbed, undisciplined, lifestyles of our citizenry. Look at our divorce rates and the number of children who are murdered inside the womb. Look at the disruption of our International borders. What we need is a modern day David who is unafraid to pick up a stone from the drought stricken riverbed. Three stones, for three statues ought to do it.
