The One Question Media Elitist Dare Not Ask The Nine Democrat Presidential Candidates
By Debbie Daniel (11/12/03)
Yawn, yawn, yawn . . . someone wake me when the Democrats’ circus is over!
I realize now this is all just a show. The marquee reads: “Bush Bashing on Stage Now . . . Come one, come all.” The street vendors are yelling: “Step right up, get your tickets here . . . the Democrats do it best; have they got a show for you!”
Can´t you see the bright lights outside the theater where the Democrats hold their debates? What a joke! It´s a three ring circus with Al Sharpton acting as the ring leader – I didn´t say “gang leader”, Brother Al, so don´t get your “boxers out-of-whack.”
These eight men – and one lady who refuses to answer the question of whether or not she smoked marijuana – have become big boors. I expect any day for Mrs. Braun to be asked if she wears “lace or cotton” rather than the usual “briefs or boxers” question.
Aren´t you proud as an American that these are the kind of questions we need to ask a potential Commander/Commandress-In-Chief?
But, you know what really bothers me . . . why doesn´t someone in the old media ask these candidates this question:
“What does America mean to you . . . and do you believe God plays a part in our nation today?”
We don´t seem to hear much about America anymore? What happened to: “America . . . land that I love, stand beside her and guide her.” Excuse me, but that song brings out such an emotion. I get very nostalgic when I think of our country and how we used to lift her up, raise our flags, and thank the good Lord for her!
But that´s how I grew up . . . I was a flag waving “Ameri-kid.” I guess those days are gone. With all the fighting and feuding over “One nation under God”, “In God We Trust,” and The Ten Commandments, we may very well bury all the good that´s made us great.
How in the world can a child sing “God Bless America” and feel the love and devotion to a country whose people are fighting daily over the very God that gives it such deep meaning?
Our efforts may be: “Leave no child behind,” but at this rate, we may WISH we had. When it comes right down to it, what are we teaching our children? Sometimes I cringe at the things they hear and see us do. What must a child think?
Remember folks: “You reap what you sow.”
We are teaching our children how to be offended; how to make someone else responsible; why they should hate, and how to show little, if any, respect.
Baby, you don´t have to; you´ve got “freedom of speech,” and you can say whatever you want. Call your principal a “skank”, if you like. And if you have a few other choice words, help yourself. You´re First Amendment right will protect you, so don´t think twice about it.
And parents, keep patting them on the back when they stand up to their teachers . . . show them how proud you are – or chuckle and say, “I wish I could have done that when I was your age, kid.”
So, to sing “God Bless America” will soon be so far removed, that those of you who worry about it lingering in the hearts of older Americans can be assured of its demise. It´s a slow death, but a death, nonetheless.
Is this the lesson we want our kids to learn: you make yourself look good by tearing someone else apart?
I was taught the opposite – so WHO CHANGED THE LESSON PLAN???
That´s all these presidential candidates do – just rip each other apart – and I´m talking “presidential”, but not even THAT word carries the respect it once had. If they´re not disparaging George Bush, they´re knifing each other in the back. Is that how you win? Is this another lesson we want to teach our kids?
Puh-leeeeze! I don´t want to hear any more stories about what´s wrong with our kids. Look in the mirror, or hold one up to a friend. It´s NOT the kids – it´s US!!!!
EITHER CHANGE YOUR NAME, OR CHANGE YOUR CONDUCT. Our forefathers would be so ashamed. What in heaven´s name did they fight for . . . to have our freedoms trampled and abused with such flippant disregard?
We´re Americans – that´s you AND me – “stand beside her . . . through the night with a light from above.”
Sorry folks, I can´t help myself. I love that song. I know the ACLU´s just waiting to come down on all of us, but wouldn´t it be great to start off a presidential debate with a pledge of allegiance to our flag, and then maybe a chorus or two of “America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea?”
For some reason, I feel the America I love is getting lost in all of this back-biting. It´s like a family yelling over a grandmother´s estate, because each grandchild thinks he should get the most, but none ever really did anything for her while she was alive. Who cares about grandma, the kids just want the goods. We´ve forgotten about America, we´re so concerned about “what´s in it for me.”
I hate to say it, but sometimes I think we´re just a bunch of takers . . . not givers. What have you done for America lately? Do you lift her up when others are constantly tearing her down? Do we stop people from defaming our country and say, “Don´t talk about my country like that?”
Well, as hokey as that may sound, it wouldn´t hurt for a few of us to try it sometime. It´s amazing how you´ll feel when you stand up for something noble . . . and America´s worth it, or have you never heard?
I actually think we believe we were the ones that fought for our freedom at Valley Forge. If we had, we´d think twice before we “trashed” these gifts.
It´s just like being handed a brand new car; you never really treat it with the same love and respect as you would if you had paid for it. And you know it´s true.
That´s why parents ask: “Doesn´t Johnny know how hard I worked to get that car for him?”
YOU DON´T PLACE THE SAME VALUE ON THINGS YOU HAVEN´T WORKED HARD TO GET.
Our forefathers had no idea, did they? I bet many are rolling over in their graves today. What a disappointment.
“America, America, God shed His grace on thee” . . . oh, I blew it, here comes the ACLU. God help me.
