Will The Real "Miserable Failures" Please Stand Up Senator Kennedy?
By Debbie Daniel (10/22/03)
First, would someone please tell Ted “Chappaquiddick” Kennedy to button his lip? Our country is in the midst of a deadly war against terrorism and some of the Democrats are acting like a young Bill Clinton in Moscow´s Red Square protesting Viet Nam.
Ted Kennedy is running all over the country belly-aching:
“All we´ve heard from this administration is week after week after week . . . lie after lie after lie.”
Whew, is that not the “pot calling the kettle black?” How dramatic, Edwardo!
His own brother, John, got us into the Vietnam War that lasted “year after year after year.”
Teddy-boy´s own drunken stupor, while driving his car over the side of a bridge, took the life of a young woman thirty-four years ago, and it took Teddy eight hours to report her death because he said he was in such a “state of shock.”
He aimlessly walked around all night until suddenly he remembered what happened . . . “Hark, now I remember, there´s a car in the bottom of the river”, but he was certain Mary Jo Kopechne was not in the car, until police found her dead body in the back seat. Uh-oh!
Lie after lie after lie? Just a little deja vu, Senator Kennedy. You might need to sit down and stop caterwauling . . . you´re beginning to be an embarrassment.
You know, with a past like that, I would think twice before calling a sitting President of the United States a liar. It´s beyond the pale, and I´m not sure you´re the man to be making such verbal assassinations against our commander-in-chief.
And then to assault Sean Hannity, national syndicated broadcaster, on his radio show when he simply tried to ask why you called Mr. Bush a liar. You went into a tirade: “Sean, you can interrupt others, but don´t you interrupt ME while I´m talking.”
And while we´re talking about blabber-mouths, someone needs to tell former Secretary of State, Madeline “Not-so-Bright,” she should come home and get off the French stage lambasting our president. She said, “George Bush´s war on terror is not good for America and not good for the world.” Sean Hannity said it best, “Does she think she´s a Dixie Chick?
And to the network news media, have you heard the good news about what´s going on in Iraq? Some of you might wish our soldiers weren´t coming home telling their success stories. It makes you look bad as our “most reliable news source” in the world today, or at least that´s what you tell us.
Didn´t we go to Iraq to remove a dictator and free an oppressed people? Well, for gosh sakes, you big three – ABC, CBS, NBC -- tell us about their freedom.
If you´re not telling us the whole truth, you´re being deceptive and that spells “miserable failure” or “liar”, whichever you prefer.
You want to quickly report that our soldiers´ morale is down. Duhhh! I guess that could be the case for some when all they hear is: “It´s a war George Bush concocted at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, and we shouldn´t be there.” Wouldn´t that demoralize you? And guess who said that? Yes, good ole Teddy.
I also hear that most of the negative talk is coming from the reservists and national guardsmen. I understand they have jobs and want to get home to their families. That sounds noble, but when you sign up, don´t you realize there´s a possibility of being called up? Or do these soldiers get to form an opinion on whether or not war is justified?
A soldier is a soldier . . . reserve, National Guard, or active duty. You don´t sign up to hold court on whether or not you´re going to protect the United States. When you´re called up . . . you go.
The question keeps being asked, “How many soldiers must die before we bring our troops home?”
Since when did we base war on meeting a quota? I´m sure glad we weren´t counting at Valley Forge? Thank goodness for that other George!
What a sad commentary on our nation that all these aforementioned individuals would be so violent in their attacks on our leader, which only brings down our country. Don´t we have more pride than this?
George Bush has been called a miserable failure, a liar, and a gang-leader. He doesn´t care what anybody says. The only war this president is fighting is the one called TERROR.
He´s put his whole presidency on the line by negotiating this war and doesn´t even seem to be campaigning for president . . . just trying to run the country.
I was intrigued by the answer he gave the other day to a smart aleck reporter who wanted to remind him of his low poll numbers. He looked the reporter square in the eyes and said, “That´s alright . . . if the American people want another president, they´ll have that opportunity next year.” The comment was disarming and the reporter said no more.
As I watched a documentary the other day called, The President´s Story of 9/11, I believe it revealed our president´s mission . . . .
After the attack in New York, George Bush was walking through the rubble when a fireman got hold of his arm and said, “Mr. President, don´t you EVER forget this.”
With tears in his eyes, the president responded, “I won´t . . . I promise.”
