Democratic Candidates In Their Own Twilight Zone
By Gordon Bloyer (01/25/04)
By now most Americans know about Howard Dean's boisterous concession speech following the Iowa voting. Dean’s outburst after he lost last Monday was reminiscent of the rowdy outbursts at the Sen. Paul Wellstone funeral in 2002. One of the participants at the funeral was Senator Tom Harkin, and he was standing right there behind Dean on Monday. And the evidence is also rapidly emerging that Wesley Clark is sometimes rather confused about events. In fact, most of these Democratic candidates are somewhat pixilated, and may be living in their own kind of Twilight Zone.
In this Democratic Twilight Zone, the country is in a time worse than the Great Depression and millions of Americans have no hope. In their world, almost everyone is unemployed or about to be unemployed, we are all dying from lack of health care, the economy is terrible, President Bush has caused global warming and wants to destroy the environment, Saddam Hussein wasn’t so bad, we can’t do anything without the approval of France and Germany or the U.N., all corporations are out to screw the American people, most people work for the minimum wage, and President Bush wants to take over the world.
None of these things are true--or even remotely so. If Republicans made these exaggerations and outlandish statements during a Democrat administration, the media would be attacking them relentlessly. On the Fox News network, Mara Liason is always defending these kinds of statements as the Democrat opinion or their point of view. A lie is not an opinion or a point of view; it is a lie. An objective reporter would say so. But there are very few objective reporters.
If the media were objective, they would be calling for the guys in the white coats to come and take some of these candidates away. The idea that these clowns are walking around like they are sane is a sad commentary on the state of America today.
Let me give the media a clue about some other things that are not true:
President Bush did not lie about weapons of mass destruction.
Iraq is not a quagmire.
Israel is not behind 9/11.
The economy is not the worst since Herbert Hoover. (Check the Jimmy Carter years.)
JFK is not being held in the basement in the White House.
Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon did not plot to kill JFK.
George H. W. Bush did not fly to Europe to tell the Iranians to hold the hostages until Ronald Reagan was inaugurated.
No one was kept from voting in Florida in 2000.
Al Gore did not win Florida even after ALL the recounts.
President Bush was never AWOL from the Texas National Guard.
National health care does not work in any country where it has been tried.
I could go on and on about all the false ideas that the leftests promote. And I do continue this discussion on my TV show at http://gordonbloyer.show.com
