Who Can Possibly Answer: What Price For Security?
By Gordon Bloyer (08/25/03)
Why did Tim Russert ask John McCain and Joe Biden how long we will be in Iraq? Why does he ask how much is it costing us to be there? Is there an answer to these questions?
President Bush needs to turn around this type of questions on the press. Tim, how much are you willing to spend to protect our country from terrorists? Is one billion too much? Is one hundred billion too much? Tell me what amount is too much to spend to track down the terrorists that want to kill all Americans? Tell me how long is too long to be in Iraq? If it takes five years to get rid of the terrorists, is that too long? What if it takes ten years, is that too long?
These questions are moronic. They are stupid. I don't care how much it costs to buy our freedom from terror. I don't care how long it takes to get the terrorists, as long as we get them. As Thomas Sowell wrote in a column this week, ''No one demanded that President Roosevelt tell them how long World War II was going to last or how much money it would cost, or what his 'exit-strategy' was. It would have been considered not only unpatriotic, but absolutely childish, to do so. Wars are not choreographed.''
These questions are designed to undermine our efforts in Iraq. They are designed to give aid and comfort to the enemy. The president and his people need to come down hard on those that ask these questions, and demand that they answer how long is too long and how much is too much?
I am fed up with the leftist demagoging on the war on terror. I address this on my television show every week. You can now watch my show on my website, gordonbloyershow.com.
Our freedom and our security are at stake.
