What Gay Pride?
By Gordon Bloyer (07/01/03)
The dictionary defines pride as: delight or elation arising from some act. I am proud that I won a few pool tournaments. I am proud to have been invited to the White House. I am proud that I was selected as an ''All Star'' when I was in the Babe Ruth League.
On the other hand, I have no reason to be proud that I am white, or that I have blue eyes, or that I was born in the United States. I had nothing to do with any of those things. If I had been born in Cuba and escaped to the United States, I would be proud of my escape. If I had one arm, as did Pete Gray, and became a major league baseball player as he did, I would be very proud.
What is the accomplishment in being ''gay''? If you were born that way, you had nothing to do with it. The only reason for ''Gay Pride Day'' is to expose your sexuality to others, who really don’t care what sex you are. It is to say, ''We are gay and we want all the Bible thumpers to watch us act stupid.''
The sad thing about it is that our country is made up of too many wimps who will not speak out against this behavior that would not be tolerated by a group of heterosexuals. Too many people will look the other way when laws are broken because they are afraid of being called names. They want people to feel good about themselves, even when they demean themselves. It is time to pour Cinnamon all over their parade.
Congress needs to stop any talk about making ''gay marriage'' legal. If it takes an amendment to the Constitution, then do it now. The current characters on the Supreme Court are too busy playing the social game, and wanting to make people feel good.
