Cakewalks And Diplomacy
By Gordon Bloyer (04/09/03)
Our friends in the liberal media sometime have trouble defining words. Cakewalk seems to confuse them a lot. When it is used in talking about our war in Iraq, they have no idea what it means. I will give them my definition.
If the war lasts ninety days or less and we have less than three hundred American deaths, that is a cakewalk. If the war lasts sixty days or less and we have less than two hundred American deaths, that is a super cakewalk. If Saddam goes down easy and the war lasts thirty days or less with fewer than one hundred combat deaths, that is a ''Lewinsky cakewalk.'' It looks as though Saddam is about to get a ''Lewinsky.'' Jewish, too.
The liberal media also seem hung up on ''What happens after the war?''. Do we need more diplomacy? What about conflict resolution? The current brand of diplomacy and conflict resolution is the cause of the current war.
You cannot negotiate with people that are suicidal, irrational, insane, delusional, or are terrorists. The Iraq government was all of the above. The only thing these types understand is force. If you want to resolve the conflict, you must eliminate those causing the conflict, and that is real conflict resolution. We have too many diplomats that do not understand this simple fact. North Korea, Syria, and Iran also fit this description.
The war has proven that there are many suicidal maniacs in the Middle East. You cannot reason with these people. We must eliminate them or make them harmless. If no country will harbor them or tolerate them, they will cease to exist. Little Abdula may hate the United States, but if no one trains him, supplies him with a bomb or arms, or harbors him, Abdula is harmless.
After the war ends, it should send a message around the world that the U.S.A. means what it says and we will not say ''no'' eighteen times before we do something. Some of the leaders of other countries are just stupid. You have to tell stupid people what to do. We should tell Syria, and others that they will stop funding terrorists, and selling arms to terrorists. And they must purge the suicidal nuts from their country or they will suffer the consequences. If they do what we tell them, they will have nothing to fear from the United States.
The liberals will tell us that we can’t tell a sovereign country what it must do. These are not sovereign countries. The American Heritage dictionary tells us that sovereign means, Self-governing; independent: a sovereign state. Syria and North Korea are not self-governing unless you call rule by force self-governing.
We are not dealing with civilized people. Civilized people do not believe that they will get seventy-two virgins when you die for Allah. Civilized people do not fire guns in the air at weddings, birthdays, and any other celebration they can think of. Civilized people do not jump up and down waving swords, and making goofy noises with their tongues. Civilized people do not commit suicide to kill Jews and Christians. It is time to quit being diplomatic and tell the truth. It is time to quit playing games with tin-pot dictators and second-rate countries with delusional leaders who think they are more important than they are.
President Bush understands that it is his job to protect the citizens of the United States. France, Germany, China, or Russia do not dictate foreign policy to us. The world will be a better place if we just follow this policy. It is a new world and it needs a new diplomacy.
