Bill Cosby Does It Again!

This past Thursday night in Chicago, Bill Cosby once again spoke the truth about the ills of the black community. This time it was while addressing the audience at the annual conference for the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition and Citizenship Education Funds...That's right, Jesse Jackson's very own (possibly very own personal) charity.
In May, Cosby made many scathing remarks about the black community during an NAACP event to mark the 50th anniversary of Brown vs. the Board of Education Supreme Court decision. In that speech, the actor-comedian lamented over the fact that so many young black men have chosen to throw their lives away on a life of crime. He also went on to criticize the way in which so many poor blacks refuse to invest in their children's education.
Cosby defended those remarks by attacking his critics inside the black community, whom he believes were angry with him for airing their "dirty laundry" by saying: "Let me tell you something, your dirty laundry gets out of school at 2:30 everyday, it's cursing and calling each other nigger as they're walking up and down the street."
Cosby refused to hold anything back Thursday night, while Rev. Jackson looked on in disbelief. Cosby chastised black men by saying: "You've got to stop beating up your women because you can't find a job, because you didn't want to get an education and now you're (earning) minimum wage. You should have thought more of yourself when you were in high school and had an opportunity."
Apparently, Bill Cosby has had enough. He has had enough of the "thug life" being marketed to our children, both black and white. He is also tired of watching everything which was gained by the civil rights movement, being thrown away by gangster rappers and irresponsible black parents.
Cosby most of all, is tired of people such as Jesse Jackson blaming white people for all of the troubles which exist today in the black community. He said: "For me there is a time...when we have to turn the mirror around. Because for me it is almost analgesic to talk about what the white man is doing against us. And it keeps a person frozen in their seat, it keeps you frozen in your hole you're sitting in."
Unfortunately, it is doubtful that Mr. Cosby's message will resonate fully with the people at whom he directed his cutting remarks. However, if both blacks and whites would take notice of his words, we would all certainly benefit.
Bravo Mr. Cosby! Bravo!
