The Case For Divorcing American Hater, Part Two

My article "The Case for Divorcing America Haters" produced more comments than almost anything that I have ever written. Overwhelmingly, the response has been positive. Leftist mocking of the old "America - Love It or Leave It" slogan was intended to counter the argument and always intended to simply silence conservatives and other normal people.
What right does anyone have to live in a country she hates? What right does anyone have to live in a nation which she thinks is worse than other nations? What right does anyone have to stay in a home, when that home is being attacked by armed burglars, causing fear and confusion as the loyal members of the home defend it and yelling out to the burglars to tell them which doors are unlocked?
One premise of my article is that treason exists. Treason is the betrayal by members of a community of those blessings which flow from membership in that community. Treason is a special crime of spoiled children. It is not coincidence that during the 1960s, the traitors in America were not the children of steelworkers and wheat farmers but rather the children of Marxist professors and movie stars.
If one believes that treason does not exist, then it is because she believes that her nation cannot be betrayed. Any tantrum, any insult, any affront is acceptable because her rights do not come from the community of her countrymen but rather from her special rights as a member of some special nobility.
Those America haters who suggest that those who us tired of them should leave America ignore the obvious: since the days of the Cumberland Gap and the Mormon trek to the Great Salt Lake, those of us who love America and its ideals have been leaving the comfortable and established coastal regions of the original colonies to establish the practical freedom which frontiers bring.
They follow us, safely, and settle in secure enclaves of imperial Europe like Georgetown, Manhattan and Hollywood, infinitely more concerned about what ingrates like Chirac, cynical liars like Schroeder or nebishes like Castro think of America than what Americans think of America.
They worship the United Nations, a senseless collection of gangsters who have divided the rest of the world into territories like the Mafia once divided American cities. They listen pensively to each holy word penned by a law clerk who thinks for some tottering Supreme Court Leftist cipher like Stevens or Ginsberg. They love all things un-Western and mock all things central to America and its heart.
In Iran or Sudan or North Korea or Cuba, these people would not be traitors but rather loyal subjects of a bad government which has no immigration problem at all. In those sad lands, they would not be traitors. Indeed, they would hear each day those surreal accusations against America which so warm their frigid hearts.
But, of course, like all Leftists, they wish to have their cake and eat it too. They want a free lunch. They want all the countless benefits of living in America without even recognizing that America is, and always has been, a uniquely good nation in human history. If they argue, seriously, that they are trying to "help" America by staying here and that they agree America is the best nation on earth, then they fail in their principal stated moral objective: We need these crypto-America haters much less than any other nation.
If their goal is to help the world, then go to Mexico and help fight the corrupt government in that nation. Go to Iran and help organize the student resistance to a genuinely intolerant theocracy. Go to Kashmir and drive around the mountain passes with bumper stickers like "Visualize World Peace." Go to Europe, where Turks in Germany and Gipsies in the Czech Republic face grim oppression.
If an America hater says that she does not really love America and its values but that she loves America and its values, then she should go to where she is needed most - doing heavy lifting on human rights in Tibet, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan and Burma and not fine-tuning the nuances of freedom in the Land of the Free.
America haters will never do what so many Christian missionaries have done and travel into harm’s way with medicine, books and prayers. America haters are traitors to the ideals of America, but this treason should not be treated as criminal treason (nor did I propose that it be in my article.)
It is noteworthy that anyone who said what Kerry, Gore and Moore say today in 1942 would be arrested by Franklin Roosevelt or deported from the United States or censure by any political party that she belonged to. The one House member who voted, out of conscience, against declaring war on Japan was a congresswoman from Montana who ended her political career right then and there.
What I propose is that we expose treason to the idea of America as treason to the idea of America. What I propose is that we file a petition telling those few loud mouths who hate America, even as America fights for its life, that they are not welcome here. What I propose is that when someone does all she can to keep America from protecting itself, that she be called to account for that treason to a great and noble idea.
Those who love America came here and stayed here. Even the one group brought by force, African slaves, declined to return to Liberia and declined to have a nation created in the Western Hemisphere and have chosen to remain Americans and not Africans centuries after emancipation. Those who do not love America have a whole planet of non-America in which to live.
The magnificent ideals of America are, of course, precisely what people like Moore and Gore hate. They stay here not to help but to hinder. Canada is very close and filled with English speaking peoples. France and Germany have socialized everything and all the cynics one could want. Anyone who in the middle of a war against America chooses to hate America from within has no right to be here.
She should leave, unmolested and with no financial loss. She should leave, even if the federal government has to purchase a first class ticket on a luxury liner and three months in a luxury hotel. She should leave, even if we have to pay her twenty-five thousand dollars to leave for good. Her presence causes young men to needlessly die and emboldens evil intentions against us around the world.
We need not be as harsh as FDR or Lincoln or Washington, who treated America haters with summary and fierce response. We may be gentle as lambs to these pampered, puerile puffballs. Just insist that they leave this seven percent of the world and enjoy the ninety-three percent we gladly leave to them.
